Working on tidying my sewing room so I can get to work on Christmas things. I have two quilt tops to put backing and batting on and quilt. Also have a couple things to sew up and am working on crocheting some things. Have to get cracking to get it all done by Christmas.

Where oh where has this year gone...i just don't get every thing done. So today I will make a new list...
Just staying alive while pulling my farm wagon with the lunch box out to the road in a lightening event...wow that was scary. God kept me safe. Thank goodness! I had no idea it was going to rain. So today I may c.lean the counter tops off. I may finish cleaning the main bathroom...something I started yesterday. I'm sort of like you Denise...i can do more if my space is cleaned up. There is so much to get done.

There is no end to the UFOs. I finished one baby-sized quiltlet, tidied up the sewing room and found a box of 96 Farmer's Wife blocks that I did long enough ago that I forgot about them. I made 4 more blocks to make it an even hundred and am piecing them into two quilts hopefully for DH's twin grandsons.

Would love to see what that block looks like Judith.

I'm also working on this. Which makes way too many projects going on at once.

Nice counted cross stitch Denise! My eyes don't like me doing that :-(

Farmer's Wife is a book of 111 quilt block patterns and letters from farm wives of the 1920s. Interesting reading and the book comes with a CD of templates for all the block patterns. I made 98 of the blocks from the book and added two pieced heart blocks.

I have that book, Judith, but haven't done it yet. It might be a 2021 project. Did the pieces fit together easily?

Debbie -- Everything went together well, except the Corn and Beans block, which for some reason gave me trouble. I loved the templates for the more difficult blocks and it was easy to convert the simple ones to rotary cutting. It's a great variety of blocks.

Hello everyone,

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments on my English Paper Piecing quilt. You have all been so busy. Love reading what you have been up to!

Debbie, the quilt measures around 34" x 26" I had measured it but threw the paper out. lol I do have it up (it had been sitting on the rocking chair for quite some time)

Denise, lovely cross stitch.

Judith, would love to see some of your Farmer's Wife blocks. Would you believe I offered this quilt as a Block of the Month when I owned Fibre Junction. I had many of the blocks pieced, as I actually wrote the rotary cutting instructions. The original intention of the designer/maker was to hand piece the quilt. She did change format for the other books and offers the rotary cutting instructions. I ended up sending my blocks to my friend Cheryl in Australia and she donated them to an organization as a fund raiser. It's nice to know that my blocks are now a quilt in another continent! lol

The author also has a few other books. I do like the 1930's one ... I love feed sack and its history

Thank you all for your inspiration.

Cheers,

Carole

If anyone is interested I posted my blocks below. I had created a slide show of the blocks with Picasa but that is no longer available (improvements aren't always improvements). I did manage to access my Picasa account and connect it to my google account to download the images that are no longer visible on my blog.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

Part 6

Part 7

Part 8

Part 9

I stopped posting after part 9. I had about 80 blocks pieced. I used 19 century reproduction fabrics. The fabrics used were the ones I kitted for my customer.

Almost tempted to start the 1930's farmer's wife ... mantra popping up "I do not need another project, I do not need ...." lol

Now to go post the photos on my blog as a record .... supposed improvements aren't always a good

Cheers,

Carole

Carole, you do such nice work! Did you rotary cut all of them or did you do any paper piecing for any of them?
I think this will definitely be on my 2021 to do list!

Thank you for your kind comments.

Debbie, I rotary cut most of them unless I could paper piece them. If you use EQ they had a program that gave you the rotary instructions for the blocks. Some of the blocks I found easier to just paper piece. Not sure the program would work with EQ 8.

Geez, what I ended up doing yesterday is creating a video of my blocks. Because Picasa is no longer an option the slide show I had created to show the blocks, which was better than posting each block, is no longer available, so you don't see the block. Thankfully, I was able to create a slide show with iPhoto. So that was my day yesterday, creating a slide show of those blocks for my blog. Off to post the slide show in each post. So wish they wouldn't mess with that stuff ....

Catch you all later.

Cute quilt Bonnie.
Carole -- at one time I did take pictures of my Farmers Wife blocks and put them on Photo Bucket. Photobucket went away and my original pictures were on my old phone and never got transferred to my computer. Some day I will have to figure out how to do that. Not today. My blocks are going into two quilts that I hope will go to DH's twin grandsons. One is finished and I'm quilting the other. I'll post pictures when they are both done. So that's my chore today -- sitting at the machine quilting. I enjoyed doing the blocks one a day. Took a few months. I put them away and kind of forgot about them until I was going through things looking for UFOs to finish up.

Gorgeous quilt blocks, Carole! Bonnie, I love your little quilt too! Too cute.

I have been working on finishing up some swaps I signed up for and having fun. Nothing earth shattering complicated, but hopefully fun for the recipient. My LogCabin is a mess from all the crafting so I am dedicating this weekend to cleaning things up. It has been hot and humid every day this past 10 days so I have been inside and making messes in my work space. I keep looking at my storage tub of basket weaving things so I promised myself I would clean up first and then dig into a few easy baskets. I like to use them for swaps and they make fun small holders for filling with gifts for family and friends. It has been over a year since I worked on any baskets so it is high time to do it again.

Still working on a Christmas present. Ongoing cleaning out. We don't seem to get far before something else takes our time. It also seems the more we get rid of the more there seems to be to get rid of. I don't know how it seems to grow. I'd think by now we would have about nothing left. Lol.

Ladies, your quilts are just beautiful. I have so many started that I need to finish. Did anyone else see the quilt that Maryellen just finished. It was on Facebook yesterday. It is so pretty and she hand sewed it all.
