I have a couple of wooden dough bowls I switch fillers in for every season. So fun to do. |

I thought it looked really cute in there together. Everybody here wants to know where I found those.
Julie, I do that with this one except I only have hearts and candy canes. But now I have these so I will have to come up with something for spring and summer. |

Depending on the bowl, these may be a bit too large, but I thought they would work. I may make some smaller ones. I've somehow misplaced my orange scraps. I know they are here somewhere, just not sure where. LOL! |

I guess I've been living under a rock -- I never heard of bowl fillers before. I just put fruit and veggies in mine. |

Denise, I use little fabric flowers and fabric leaves for spring and I made some stars, sunflowers and little flag pillows out of tea stained ticking for summer. |

I've been working working on some cross stitching. Seems you can stitch for hours and only get a little done. |

Congratulations to our Judith and Winnie for all of the badges that they have earned! It was fun to see their names in the latest Sisterhood newsletter and all of the recipes from Deb, Linda, Sara and Connie! I hope that I didn't miss anyone :) |

I have been busy the past two days, cleaning up and getting out mu fall decorations. It is a great way to dust, rearrange, and think about what can go to the thrift store box. Tonight I love seeing my little pumpkin faces here and there!! |

Our freezer quit today! Thankfully the meat, was still frozen when I discovered it. Thankfully the frozen veggies I had just bought on Saturday were still icy. The ice cream was a melty mess. The dog food was still frozen, but tomorrow morning the dogs will share with the chickens. And we will look for a freezer. Now I'm wondering what more or other surprises that lightening strike left for us. |

Oh Marilyn, I hope you can a reasonable one you can get quickly. Some say appliances are taking a long time after ordering to arrive. Maybe if you find one at Home Depot or Lowe's you can pick it up right then. |

It s chilly here this morning, so I am starting a pot of bean and ham soup. I have a loaf of sour dough rising and I made a peach pie yesterday so that will round off our meal. Since we are supposed to have frost the next couple of nights, I am harvesting the rest of the green beans, zucchini and peppers. The tomatoes and cucumbers I am covering and everything else will be just fine with a frost. I am not ready to harvest apples yet, but I may not have a choice. We are also starting to chop corn for silage so I imagine I will be packing the pile several times today. |

Wow everyone has been so busy creating/decorating. I'm gathering motivation to vacuum my fur rug .... the joy of a long hair black cat on a white rug! Love her to pieces .. it's only fur! lol
I'm still on the UFO kick and finished this English Paper piecing quilt. I used 1/2 inch hexes. The pattern is from the Spring 2013 Primitive quilt magazine. This project started out as a challenge with a couple of friends. I brought it from this
to this (my apologies for the poor lighting)
I hand appliqued the hexes to the border. I'm glad that it is finally done. I started that quilt back in the Spring 2013, finished the top early Oct 2013 and put that border on in August 2020. Quite the time line! lol
For those curious, I won the challenge of having the whole top pieced. Diane won the challenge of having the quilt fully completed in February 2014.
Catch you all later! Cheers! |

Carole...WOW!!! Those are 1/2" hexes??? About how big is the finished quilt? That is just beautiful! Marilyn, I hope that you find a freezer that is to your liking and I'm so glad that you didn't lose much with the other one going out. What a mess! Julie, you sound busy and your dinner the other night sounds delicious! I have been doing some fall clean up around my yard and I started a little tunic type thing with a turtle/cowl neck on it for my almost 3 year old granddaughter. It is knit and shouldn't take too long. I thought I should get it done before the cooler weather gets here. I will post a picture when I get a little farther along with it. I have also been cleaning out my attic!!! My daughter didn't realize how much of her childhood stuff she wanted us to save! Now she has her own house and it can go home with her! We found lots of her play kitchen/play food things that she had. She took it home and cleaned it and her daughter was so excited to put it in HER play kitchen. We also found the Easy Bake oven, which she said she wanted to toss. Have you ever really thought about the concept of baking miniature cakes with just a light bulb??? haha Lots of favorite childhood books...I'm still looking for the collection of Berenstain Bear books that I know we saved. It is such a good feeling to pass saved things along and toss what is no longer wanted. I am also trying to finish up a Christmas tree skirt that I started YEARS ago. It's on my UFO project list. I has 56 pieced star blocks that are 5" finished. I have been putting it off and putting it off. I decided to machine applique them instead...much faster! Everyone enjoy their Labor day! |

Debbie, I know there are baby things old dishes from Grandmas house and Christmas decorations...as well as boxes up in our attic. Right now it is too hot to attempt to go up. I doubt that I can go up there. But perhaps if our son can live without his trash trailer for a couple of days, and the kids could come out and go up there we could clean it all out. |

Carole -- I love your hexie quilt. I have done a lot of 1 inch hexes and a few ½ inch so I really appreciate and admire the time you put into it. |
