My daughter found this ad on the internet and shared it on Facebook. Thought it was unique.

I love the apple giving idea of the poster you found, Connie! What a great idea and a healthy one too. An Apple a day keeps the doctor away!

Very cute vintage apple sign, Denise! I wish they still made things like that today.

Winnie, I eat an apple almost every day and I always think of that saying. Lol.
I love the tart ones most but others if they are crisp. I notice they don't have Rome apples on that chart. Along with granny smith I like Empire and Rome.

Denise, I don't think I have ever seen an empire apple.
When we first moved here we had an Apple tree. It had delicious apples on it but I never knew what kind. Then the old golden delicious apple tree died. Basically it was a half a stump with a small limb or two. My husband bought and planted several over the next four years..until the good tree died. No more apples.

Marilyn, Empire apples are found further north and they are delicious!! Last season, a local grocer was carrying bags of the smaller apples from upstate New York and empires were among the varieties that were available. I snatched up bags of them up until mid summer here when the last of the cold storage supply was gone. you can bet I will be looking for them again this year.

Rome apples are big here in the South and they are nice and tart as well. Another one that is not often found here in Florida where I live but do happen in the fall when they are plentiful. They make great cooking apples as well because they are firm and tart and bake up nicely.

BooHoo, I am down to my last 6 apples that I picked in NC!!!!!!!!! They sure were good and hubby and I have enjoyed eating them every day. We are going to a potluck dinner tonight with friends and I just put an apple crisp in the oven. Publix had bags of small Gala apples from Mercier , Ga. onsale this week. Mercier Orchards is a favorite apple orchard of mine when I visit with my friend in Rome, Ga. They carry many varieties and have this big apple barn on site that sells apples, apple related products like apple butter and of course, fried apple pies. Love that place!!

Here is me two years ago checking out at Merciers Orchard apple barn.

They are just starting here Winnie. Have you ever had an asian pear? I believe that's what they call them. They are a mix between an apple and a pear. So good and juicy, crunchy and sweet. I have not seen them in a long time. My mother in law used to get them a lot. Can't wait till more come in so I can get started on my canning, drying and baking with them! I need to go to the local farm, Sunny Slopes, and see what they have in. They are about a mile and a half from me. But I am usually on my way and busy when I pass by and think of it. Close enough to run there quick.

I have seen asian pears in the past but not recently that I remember. I've never tasted one but next time I get a chance, I will try one out.

Yes, finding someone to actually make this little stove usable seems like an impossible feat. Nothing ever comes up that seems trust worthy either.

Speaking of apples again, I have heard of apple molasses? Has anyone ever seen it? My guess is that you cook down fresh pressed apple juice until it darkens and turns thick? Maybe like the process of making cane syrup and cane molasses? I would love to try some apple molasses because I bet it would be delicious. I currently found some cane molasses in my travels in Asheville recently and it is delicious on hot oatmeal instead of brown sugar. I really love the flavor of cane syrup and the molasses is delicious too. When we get back from Ireland, I want to make my Mom's gingerbread recipe because gingerbread is one of my all time favorite desserts. Mom used to make a warm lemon sauce to pour on top and we all loved it growing up. It has been years since I made some and I think the cane molasses will be great in the recipe.

Gingerbread -- another flavor of fall. I love gingerbread waffles with coconut syrup but the syrup is hard to find.

Bobbie was in Brookshires yesterday and apple scones were marked down. She shared with me. Apples are popping up everywhere.

We went to the orchard today and bought crab apples. They are delicious eating. Also Apple-cinnamon doughnuts, apple turnovers and apple chocolate chip cookies. I have to be careful of sweets but it's really is hard at this time of year.

Bonnie, you are so right. When we were in NY we went to a place for breakfast and they had apple fritter french toast. I couldn't resist and it was so good. I hope to find a recipe for it sometime.

Denise -- please post the recipe if you find it. That sounds wonderful. I don't like breakfast but that sounds like something I would eat. I have to take pills in the morning and have to take them with food. This morning tapioca pudding was the only thing that sounded good.
