Sara, I have no idea. I asked my husband and he did not remember either.
Were the goblets clear?

Yes, they are clear. It came to me hours after I posted - it was Griffton (sp) Tea. I think it was a company out of LA.

That is cool!
I remember the little cut glass bowls and saucers that came in oatmeal, the thin cheap towels that came in Breeze detergent and as a young mother the grocers offered silverware, dishes and sometimes pots and pans. For every $ you spent you got a point. Then you could exchange the points for a piece of two of what you were interested in. I still have some forks left from a set of silverware I put together that way.
I used to think my little digger child was responsible for the loss of my spoons. Now I realize it was and still is his dad, who uses spoons to feed His canned cat and dog food to the outside critters.
I'm glad Wal-Mart has plenty of spoons for sale.

I remember getting things in the detergent. I know that's how my mom got a lot of her dishes and things. That and S&H green stamps. My brother and I used to love sticking those stamps in the books. Mom was always saving them for something.

I still have a few books of Blue Chip stamps around here somewhere. Wilshire gas stations used to give stamps too along with glassware, and the gas was 25.9 cents a gallon unless there was a gas war going on, then you might get lucky and get it for 19.9 and sometimes double stamps, too. And I remember getting dishes in boxes of soap; recently saw some in a thrift store. The good old days; you don't get anything anymore.

We had green stamps and quality stamps. And Kroger gave Top Value, they were yellow. We had 2 redemption stores. In the 60s you had to pay 15 cents for each book you redeemed. I remember paying 30 cents in the 1970's. Connie

I used to have that garlic growing. It was so pretty but I had to dig it up and give it away because the scent triggered migraines. Thank goodness the migraine days are behind me.

I think there are a few green stamps in the sewing house. The last thing I got with mine was a set of stainless steel cookware.

I remember my mom got us a hair dryer with stamps one time. It looked like this one.
I always hated the elastic because it would that mark across my forehead. It never dawned on me to put something between it and my forehead.

Marilyn -- I cook with garlic. Couldn't eat it when nursing babies because it gave a couple of them colic. I can eat it now with no more problems with babies (they're long gone) or migraines (now also gone).

I loved getting green stamps and blue stamps
Bought some nice things with them. I still have some somewhere?
Simpler times.

Love you all!

We also used green stamps. Did you have Betty Crocker coupons too? They were from Gold Medal flour and cake mixes.

My silver-plate came from Betty Crocker coupons. My Mother's silver came either from Betty Crocker or Pillsbury. I eventually ended up with service for 54. I got to bring silverware for reunions, showers, parties, etc. I finally divided it up among the kids.

I am looking forward to FALL! Then I can get into my sewing house and organize. I must say, though, that I can usually find what I'm looking for, though currently sometimes it takes a while longer than I anticipate. Organization will be nice. LOL!

Linda,
I need to tidy up my craft area too! I use the spare room for guests when we have them so my crafts are kept in a walk in closet and a large armoire. But I tend to get messy so I need to spend some time in the straightening and organizing. I'll call it part of my fall cleaning.

I remember helping my Mom put all the stamps into the books. We had green and yellow stamps with a redemption center for each one. My Mom used to save Betty Crocker labels and purchase extra stainless steel pieces too. I have a few of the teaspoons she got with the T engraved on the handle for Thompson. My silverware box was purchased with the green stamps back in the early 1970s and was the last thing I ever remember buying with them. Mom also used to get these dishes with the wheat pattern on them from powdered laundry detergent boxes. Did any of you have those ? With a big family, it was an easy way to get some extra dishes for our big family. I am not sure what happened to them either. Anyone have one from their younger years?

Denise, you look so adorable under that bonnet hair dryer all dressed up!! I spent hours and hours in my youth sitting under a hair dryer. My hair is thick and it took sitting there, with the dryer on high for about an hour. Not only did my hair get dried, but my brain got cooked!! LOL!! I have many memories of sitting under the dryer doing my homework in my high school years. You know we had to have our hair just so, or so we thought at the time!! LOL!!

I remember saving Betty Crocker coupons. Mom and Grandma got their silverware through them and so did I. I was kind of glad when they did away with the coupons since they were kind of a pain to have to mail in.

With all this talk about Betty Crocker coupons, S&H Green Stamps, and Top Value? Yellow Stamps, who remembers the Fuller Brush Man coming around on a regular basis in his truck? And also the grocery stores had pans and china that you could get a certain free piece every week with a certain dollar amount purchased. Things sure do change, don't they?

Linda I remember the Fuller Brush Man. Also Watson and the man that sharpened knives, scissors, hoes, and small garden tools.

Did you ever have a visit from the tinker?
I remember being about seven when a jalopey of an old truck with something built on the back to nail nails into and hang pans on came to our house. So the truck "sang" as it approached ( with all of the tin pans etc. Clanging together). The tinker could fix most anything. Mother always had an aluminum dish pan with a hole in it. She would save it until the Tinker came and he would fix it.
