Didja' ever plant something and then totally forget that you did? Well I don't remember planting these bulbs...maybe my wee helpers did about 17 years ago. I don't even know what they are.
They have foilage like jonquils and daffodils. Very long stems. They are pretty!

How pretty Marilyn!

I have been piddling this morning. But the weather is gorgeous so I am going to work on getting my porch cleaned up and set up for sitting and enjoying. We are still having frosts here so I won't put any plants yet.

Thanks Denise, I thought they were pretty too.
I am very allergic to paper whites, so when I snapped the stems I thought of them, but decided quickly that paper whites bloom early in Texas and are sometimes forced for Christmas.
We don't have a porch big enough to sit on...but my sewing room does...now if I can move the work benches, wood, saws, etc...perhaps we could enjoy it once more.

That is what I think, Winnie. They called twice on the house line. My husband had used the phone and had to find it. He said it was a 400#. When I answered a lady said they were going to cancel my internet, I could press 1 to talk to someone or press 2 for disconnection. I pressed 1 and a guy told me he was with AT&T and someone had hacked my internet, someone in Ohio! He said they would have to shut it down, go in and remove the corrupted files, etc. I told him that AT&T is not my internet provider. Then he said AT&T is the hub over every other internet provider in America. He asked if the computer was on. I said, we don't even have a computer, I use a tablet. He then said they would turn my internet off for 15-20 days. So I asked if I have to pay a bill if I have no service? He said no. I said ok. He hung up. He was oriental...but what's new about that!

Definitely sounds like a scam. I always have them calling saying something is wrong with our Apple products and so the last time I talked to a man with an India accent and finally told him it would be hard to give him any information since we don't own any Apple products. He hung up on me.

I'm sure that was a scam, Marilyn. Let us know what you find out. I'd call your Internet provider.

Ever so often I get a call from Asian speaking men telling me they have info about my computer. I hang up. It's all a scam and I am starting to believe most of the robo-calls I get are scams. Like calls saying they are from some police or trooper organizations. I also wonder about a lot of the charities.

It thundered during the night and we got some rain. Promising to rain on and off all day. Good for my new plants. Annie and I slept in till a little after nine so I am running behind before I even get started.

Sara, I get a lot of scam calls too! My friend just gave me a phone number for a do not calllist.
I will post it on here later today!
Be aware of medical scams saying Medicare will over prescriptions fo medicines and braces for your body. If you get a call just tell them you will talk to your doctor first, they probably will hang up on you! Write down the phone number if you can. They want your money and info. Be careful out there!

Love you all.

That's ok to sleep in a bit, Sara. My alarm was set for six, but I woke up at five.
Then at 7:30 in very dense fog I had to drive to the other side of town, about 8 miles to get my husband. He was getting his truck worked on, at the Ford house.
My out side chores are done now so I may rest a bit.
Something is wrong...this big huge beauty has bloomed! Problem is, not a single yellow or white iris bloomed this year. They are old, very old fashioned iris. So has anyone else had this happen??
This one is almost 8" from the tippy top to the bottom of its falls.

Marilyn your iris looks like my irises from my Grandma Jones old home place. They bloom later than any other iris in town. I won't have blooms until a couple of weeks.

I remember the irises way back to the 1940s. Over the years the irises took over the side yard. In 1973 before my aunt sold the house I dug up 6 bulbs. Didn't know what color I had until the next year. they turned out to be all purple which had always been my favorite irises. I was living in Irving then and they multiplied. When I moved to Howe in 1975 I dug up six bulbs and planted them along a fence line. They multiplied and I had beds of them. When I moved to Paris in 2011 I gave bulbs to my sisters and took 6 with me. In the seven years I have been here I have separated them and given some away.

Thank you Darlene - they are beautiful. Behind a full bloom are several buds waiting to bloom. Irises do like to be deadheaded. I usually do it in the mornings and it gives me time to enjoy them up close.

These purple ones probably came from Boyd, Texas and were planted by the two daughters of the elderly couple we bought the place from. I have divided them shared with others and still...some times I have beautiful blooms. I just don't understand why my vintage yellows and whites have not bloomed. They are always so bright as you come up the lane. Maybe I need to divide and feed them in August.
My mother in law always took the scissors to hers in August...cutting the tops at an angle...that was important but I have no idea why.

I cut my back in late Aug or early Sept. I think it's to help the bulb to store up nutrients for the coming year. It also looks tidier during the winter. I know irises don't have bulbs but for the life of me I can't remember what their root thingys are called. Do you?

Marilyn, those are pretty flowers!
Cold, Rainy April the 4th here! Marlee's Spring swap box arrived today just in time to cheer me up!

We have to detour 8 miles out of the way now to get to Millington, the town where we shop the most and I saw a Barn owl up close this morning. I was driving really slow because the streets are wet and He rotated his head around like they do to see me face to face. I have never seen one that close before. They have so many new Detour signs and they are shorter, so the owls are closer to the ground, he didn't fly off. There was no body else on the road so I just stopped and watched him for a bit. The detour goes through 8 miles of farm land. I have enjoyed just the quietness of the road. There are 2 detour routes, I take the road less traveled. I don't like traffic!
It finally stopped raining.everything looks so green!
