I don't think I have ever been happier to welcome spring. We had a record snowy winter! Goodbye ice!!! Because of our 50degree weather we have the snow going fast and I saw lots of spring bulbs popping up next to the house. I also got a major hair cut today. I feel great! Happy spring to you all!

We have had a week of cooler temps and I have to admit, I have been enjoying every chilly and dry moment! Ahhh, to be able to wear a light sweater or sweatshirt is pure happiness for this Farmgirl. Today, however, it is back up to the upper 70s and then a warming trend for a few days before one more little cool down. As April arrives, the possibility of cooler weather fades rapidly down here. So me and Pumpkin Pie, the stone pumpkin with her crocheted "Spring Hat", are decked out in our Spring warm clothes, enjoying the last of the fires”as in the electric faux fireplace” (LOL!!) at the Log Cabin!! If you want to see Pumpkin Pie, check out the photo of my Spring swap goodies from Denise at the link here!! Hmmmm, I was thinking the other day, Pumpkin Pie might need some sort of Americana hat for Summer. What do you think?

Yesterday it was sunny and 66 degrees. Pops got off work at noon (rare for him) We played outside with Lily June from 2 to 6 pm. We had lunch outside! Lily June and I cleaned out leaves from the raised flower bed so she can work on her fairy garden part! We drew with sidewalk chalk and blew Bubbles. My Heart and soul needed some sunshine! We all did!!

Connie I drink hot tea every morning. Come the hot days of summer and I will either let my hot tea cool to room temperature or drink it iced.

Last summer Lipton had some good varieties of teas. We tried a few. I must begin watching for them again.

My morning begins with coffee, with cream. Then as I pack lunch boxes for the guys, I make our breakfast smoothies. Later in the morning I have my double cup of turmeric tea. I use two green tea bags and one Constant Comment. After they steep I add the turmeric paste, maple syrup, coconut oil and freshly ground black pepper. I use a small whisk to mix it up then I add two slices of candied ginger. After I drink the tea I eat the ginger. It is supposed to help with pain.

Ok. First but a bag of turmeric powder at the health food store or the pharmacy at walmart. I think it is around $7 at walmart.
1/4 cup of turmeric powder and 1/2 cup water( filtered or distilled) put these in a small saucepan and stir. Cook over a low heat for up to seven minutes. Stir frequently. You may need to add a Tablespoon of more of water. It should make a paste similar to thick pudding. I put mine in a small canning jar with a plastic lid and after it cools refrigerate it.
Turmeric needs fat and black pepper to work in your body. I suppose that is why we don't get much help from the capsules.
Green tea is supposed to be very healthy, so I use it, two tea bags( but I love Constant comment and have put in one of those tea bags also. Pour boiling water over the tea bags and allow them to steep 3-5 minutes, squeeze gently and remove. Now add your turmeric paste. I use two teaspoons, whisk it to break up the clumps of turmeric paste. Then I add 1 and 1/2 T of maple syrup and 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, and 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper. Stir it up then I drop in two pieces of candied ginger. Now like I said earlier this is a double cup. I have a Pioneer Woman cup that I use. Maple syrup is so sweet that you may want less.
At night when I make golden milk, I heat some milk...I just use whatever is in the fridge 2% or whole cows milk. It is naturally sweet so I only use less than a teaspoon of syrup. I add the coconut oil, black pepper and ginger. This is pretty yummy. Not bad. It helps you sleep also.
