Yes, Linda, they stored the big stuff, kitchen, etc. And moved into her old room upstairs.

Day 20, we have four baby chicks. There are at least two more in the early stages. Thank goodness they are not as noisy as the last crew...who are three weeks old now. Hard to believe. March is might near done!!!

I hope the landlord didn't keep their deposit after telling them they had to leave so quickly. That was not very neighborly of her.

I love the happy face on the egg. Did the pecking of the other chick(s) do that?

I hope not, too.
I'm just concerned that Bay could end up in a flare over it. She looked tired.
I drew the smiley faces on all of the eggs because we needed a way to check to be sure the Incubator was turning the eggs.
#5 just hatched. We put ten eggs in this time. All Nankin Bantums. Hopefully more will hatch during the night.

All the talk about chicks and the sweet pictures has brought back memories of my three chickens - Claude, Maude, and Mo'Dean. I got them at Atwoods when they first arrived so they were brand new. I kept them in my laundry room in a cage borrowed from Betty. At that time Maggie, my rat terrier, was still with me. When the chicks were a little bigger I would take one out and let Maggie smell it. One by one she smelled the chicks. After a few days of doing this I put them on the floor and after sniffing them Maggie showed no interest in them at all. By the time the chicks were ready to go outside to their coop and to free range in the back yard Maggie knew they belonged and I never had a problem with her chasing them. Up to the day Maggie died she and the chickens got along not so much Annie. Annie wanted to hunt them so they went to be with Betty's chickens.

Sara even though Annie's a hunter and you had to let the chickens go, I would still feel safe having her there.

Denise Annie is a God sent. A year after Maggie died it was time for me to have another dog and I wanted an English mastiff. The Paris animal shelter had a litter of four E M & yellow lab mix so I went to get one. I chose one that looked like a mastiff but was yellow. As I was paying for him the woman in charge came up and said she had spoken for that dog and it was hers. So I gave him up. Went back to the cages where three were left. Two solid black dogs that looked like a mastiff and this dog jumping on the cage wanting to be let out. Even though her papers said E M yellow lab mix I couldn't see any mastiff in her but I fell in love with Annie right then and she went home with me. Before I had gone to the shelter I prayed that the Lord would find me the dog I needed and he did. Annie protects me and is my constant companion.

You worked so hard Denise. Maybe another Epsom salt bath will help your soreness.
Sara, I enjoyed the story of how Annie chose you. Our border collie Lucky chose us, as did Bear!

I used some Arnica on my back and it helps tremendously. The headache that was trying to be gave up and didn't bother today. I'm grateful for that. Grand kids were here again which always makes me feel better.

Last night we were to dip down to 36°, so I thought it best to put plastic over the eight pepper plants that I set out during the week. Bear decided to help...by getting in my way. He would stand over each rock I needed to get to hold the plastic down. The wind was so cold, but he wanted to herd me!!! Finally Lacey appeared and they love to rough house play. She allowed me to escape inside.

Hens sure make their presence known when they announce the arrival of their egg.I was watching two roosters and a hen yesterday afternoon. They are colored egg layers. One roo is dark red and black. The other is much flashier.I tell him he is beautiful. He is the boss, self proclaimed. The other guy was paying too much attention to the hen. Mr beautiful began doing a strut dance around him. It was so funny!
