I'm working on growing a jungle garden. I told my husband that I over plant because seeds and plants are small, when I plant them...but God has been so generous with the rain and lightening and thunder, followed by some sunshine...let's just say, my beds are stuffed. But in a few days my zinnias should bloom. I'm so excited!

LOL! Marilyn, my garden is also a jungle. The wild (or should I saw ancient and now wild) blackberry bushes are crowding out everything, but the iris and lilies came up right through them. We've tried to clean out around the two lilac bushes (though NOT the lilacs I remember from growing up in Illinois) so they could breathe. And the yard, already a swamp because of all the rain, will also be a jungle by the time we get home.

This morning I separated all wool according to color; put in zip lock bags and 'filed' in plastic container. Now that my kitchen table is somewhat in order I can work on chair swags.

That is great Sara! Being organized is a good thing.
I try, but right now I'm not.

ok ladies, take a look at the lace I glued across the top of this card. Have you ever seen crochet joined to ric rac?? Every peak has four stitches made into the ric rac and every valley has two stitches. I have bought lots of crochet, have used and examined my grandmother's as well as mother's and I have never seen this. Perhaps some little girl had a dress, that her mom trimmed this way...??? I love it!

Darling card Marilyn! Sara, I have done the exact same thing with my smaller fabric swaps and it really does help to find a special piece without digging to China to find it!! However, I desperately need to do it again because I have new stuff just thrown in and chaos is resulting.

Lately, I have been doing swaps like I mentioned, but also catching up on writing notes and postcards friends. I like trying to routinely take time to send real mail because it feels good to find a real note to oneself among the rest of the junk mail. I love to receive mail and I hope others enjoy getting real mail.

Marilyn, your card is so sweet and the the crochet is a lovely touch! I have never seen it done with rick rack like that but I do know it looks pretty.

Marilyn - I've got a lot of my mother's lace stash and she doesn't have any with crochet and rick rack. That is neat.

This morning I have been working on refurbishing a little wooden tea cart my mother in law gave me. I was going to sand the whole thing down but decided to try some lemon oil and beeswax cream that I bought some time ago. It really brought it back amazingly enough. I need to use some steel wool on the handle and replace the hinges. I have all of it but it was bothering my back and neck to work on it so will wait till this afternoon to give it a try. I wish I had taken a before picture but I will post when it is finished. It has been in the garage for a couple of years and really needed some wood cleaner and elbow grease to get it cleaned up. I really like the way it is turning out. Also one wheel has a band of rubber around it and the other is missing . I need to find something to replace it. So that and household chores are keeping me busy today.
Sometime this week I plan to start a quilt that I bought material for last year. Hope everyone is doing well today!

I will take a picture of the cart and wheels so you can see what they are Marilyn. The wheel is wooden with a rubber piece that fits into a groove around the wheel.

Denise you're enjoy your teacart when it's finished. What room are you going to use it in? I remember a picture in a magazine and there was a teacart in the library.

Sara,
I am putting it in the front room, which happens to be our library room, in front of the big window.
Today is running a couple errands and then I will come back and get it put together. I am going to stop at Tractor Supply and see if they have a piece of something I can put around the wheel. I also have a little paint touch up to do on the bands.

Today I'm setting up my sewing machine and working on some of the projects I brought. Let's see what I can accomplish before we decide to go out and explore something/somewhere. LOL!

Denise, how nice that your little tea cart is responding well to a good wood refurbishing! Post a photo when you get it finished.

Linda, enjoy catching up at the sewing machine while you travel about. It always feels fun to get some projects, that you have been wanting to do, get moving forward. I also wanted to wish you and Ed happy house hunting and for sure you will know when you hit upon the right thing for you both. I agree with Sara too that house hunting becomes very emotional! Every time I walk into a house, I wonder how I would be able to make it mine and feel like home instead of a vacation spot! LOL! It is exhausting at times. The good news is that there is no rush to purchase and you have time to look at all the possibilities before making a decision.

Today, I have an old photo of my Mom sitting on the front top of their antique Red Buick while Grandpa changed a tire. The time was October 1928 and Mom and my grandparents were going to Florida for the Winter. it was their first time ever to the state. We have a Renaissance printing company locally and they are creating a postcard from this old photo for me. I hope it all turns out well because I love the old car and the fact that Mom was headed down here!!

My own mother was smart and adventurous.
Today I spent some time sewing lace on paper.
Sure there were other things to do...but I chose to piddle.
Bay is 22 today. It was only a ... Where did all of those years go???
I must go feed my chickens, hop into the shower and go to her family birthday party.
See y'all later!

Have fun Marilyn!

Winnie, that is going to make an awesome postcard. How neat that you have that and all the information about it as well.

Linda, there's nothing better to do in between sightseeing than getting to work on projects!
