Thanks Sara. With my back trouble it took me a good part of the day to take it apart and clean it all and put back together. I am very happy with it and I think my mother in law will be happily surprised.

I am almost finished. One more square to quilt and then just adding the binding.
I am deciding what I want to finish next while I work on this.

Love that cart, Denise.

Yesterday I finished the first border on the boys quilt, and yesterday and today I finished 2 reusable kitchen towels, 4 kitchen boas, 4 quilt blocks, cut out 2 more quilt blocks, and need to rip out and re-sew one more block. Then I will lay out the 30 blocks on our bed in Oklahoma (next 4 nights starting tomorrow night) and sew them together or decide if they need some sashing between the blocks. It is my red/white quilt using the broken Sugar Bowl block from quilterscache.com.

I also brought fabric for 2 shift-style dresses and to finish the second boys quilt to take to Germany for Christmas. Wonder how much I will get done. LOL!

Oh, know how plans don't always work out? Well, I brought my featherweight, scissors, cutting board, rotary cutter and small rulers, thread, pins, ripper. But I forgot extra needles (that I found at WalMart) and extra bobbins (which I have yet to find - I need to find a quilt shop). LOL!

I began ironing that mess on the wrong side of the tee shirts that Hadlee gave me. I was struck by the size 8 little children's shirts. They were dated 2013...the year of her brain tumor. It was an emotional afternoon, remembering back to April, May, June ,July and August that year. But now she is grown up, 5' 8" or maybe even 5' 9" . She is a young lady who will turn 19 before the end of summer! God is so very good.I
Tomorrow morning I will try to cut the shirts and stitch around each one to keep the mid weight
fusable pellon on the stretchy fabric.
We will see how it goes.

A kitchen boa is a kitchen towel, cut in half, and each half sewn into the ends of a width-of-fabric fabric tube. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow.

A friend who does t-shirt quilts a lot says to use the lightweight iron on interfacing. I got some of it to try and make t-shirt quilt out of some of Ed's t-shirts.

I hate to make them and said never again, but I will make this last one as a surprise for Had. I got some blue fabric printed with feathers to sash the blocks together. I will use fleece on the back. Turquoise blue is her favorite color.

Marilyn, I can imagine how hard that must have been for your family! Now your beautful Hadley is all grown up! God is sooo Good! I will tru the interfacing on lily junes little t-shirts. That's a good idea! Im sewing banners and skirts fir Lily June. And I took apart a eyelet shirt i bought at Wal-Mart 3 years ago, I wore it out! and used
It for a pattern.
I bought some lightweight eyelet from fabric .com. It turned out good. I burn up in summer, because of MS. Polyester blends is so hot. I like 100 percent cotton. Eyelet lets the air in. When I am trying to cook or watch lily June. I get so hot even with the a.c. on 75.

Here are pictures of the patriotic Kitchen Boas - and if you are interested, I will try to post pics or describe in words a few things I learned to make them easier and have better/cleaner seams. Excuse the facial expressions. LOL!

Connie -
I, too, love all cotton clothes. I brought some cotton fabric with me to make 2 shift dresses - they are so comfortable in the summer, and I haven't found any I liked in thrift shops, WalMart or other stores. I did get a t-shirt fabric simple shift dress at WalMart and I love it. I also got a similar dress on sale at Chicos.

LInda, kitchen boas are new to me and yours are super cute with those fabrics you chose!! Which end do you use for the kitchen towel needs?? I have been working on swaps form MJF and crafting up a little storm down here in Florida. I love to make as much of a swap as possible because it is fun and creates things that come from my heart.

I am with you Sara, only all cotton clothing for me in Summer. It is too hot and humid down here for synthetics!!

Connie, yes God is very good. I feel blessed each and every day. Hadlee is the source of those rolls of Washi tape. She gave me a bunch that she was not going to use because she had bought a bunch more. Kids who have jobs!

Winnie - These are made with either a terry kitchen towel or the cotton thinner towels - you use both halves - one on each end of the boa. Some earlier ones I made using 2 halves from coordinating terry kitchen towels. Hopefully the directions, below, are clear. If not, please email or call me.

Directions:
1. Cut the towel in half - halfway between the 2 finished ends.
2. Tightly gather the cut end of each half, and secure. This should be around 5 to 5-1/2" wide when gathered.
3. Cut your fabric 11" wide x WOF (width of fabric - selvage to selvage - 42").
4. Fold the fabric in half RST (right sides together) along the 42" side.
5. Sew 1/4" seam down the long (non-fold) edge, leaving a 3-4" opening in the center of the seam. You will understand why later. Do NOT turn right sides out yet.
6. Take one half of towel and insert inside one end of the tube, matching gathered edge of towel and raw edge of tube. (I stuff in from end of tube - hemmed end first.) Pin between folded edge of tube and seamed edge. Sew 1/2"-5/8" across pinned edge.
7. Repeat Step 6 for other half of towel.
8. Reach in through 4" opening you left in long edge of tube and pull both towels, one at a time, out through this opening.
9. Press fabric tube. Top stitch 1/16" along both sides of the tube. Also stitch across tube 1/4" from seamed edge of towel.
10. Fold long tube in half to mark the center and pin to mark. Fold at this center point to "pleat" to about 3" wide, pin and stitch across with back stitches at both ends. This will be at the back of the neck of the wearer. I do this to make it more comfortable.

Hope this helps some:

I am going to be making some for sale in the little shop I'm in. These go pretty fast with these directions. I have also thought about gathering the middle for the neck but think it will be too bulky that way. The pleats are smoother. If you are my partner in any swaps you just might get one. LOL!
