On my goodness, Shannon! That makes me cold just reading your description. Feeding the animals is what my son has to do. He is so wrapped up in long johns, multiple shirts, a down vest, a coat, a wool cap, covered by a face protector and wool socks inside his muck boots and big gloves...sometimes I do t even know who is really in there until I hear his voice! After several below freezing nights and days in the lower 30s we finally have sunshine. It is still cold and windy but that sunshine sure helps. We have sure had a lot of gray days here lately. I hope you get some sun shine soon.

Mountain lions have been sighted pretty close to where I am. I hope I don't ever see one.

I believe the most recent sighting was about three miles down the road. I do not want to meet one. While teaching in Glen Rose, each year we had a guest author come and spend a day telling the kids and teachers about their work. One year we had a local man who wrote and illustrated his book about Panther Cave. His book was about a cave near Glen Rose, on a shipping route in the late 1800s. It was so facinating. If you have ever heard of Fossil Rim Wildlife Park, Panther Cave was not far from where the park is today.
We had a neighbor once upon a time who told that his mother looked out of the window one day to see a pride of big yellow cats circling their sheep. This was near Jonesboro, Tx. Probably about 1975. Then on my grandmas property...about the same time a young man asked if he could go deer hunting. She said, yes he could. He had a muzzle loader gun. Everything was ok until he met up with a huge black cat!!! Not a deer! He had to load his gun with gun powder and wadding and pack of in, light it, then take aim, as this stalking panther was just about ready to pounce on him... he pulled the trigger. Thank goodness that young man survived, the black panther was his trophy.

Wow, you all are getting snow there and we are having 60 degree weather and rain here in the mid Atlantic. Maybe we will get some yet this year.

Well I think we are ready for our winter storm! After several hours of out door work, the tractor, the golf cart, the four wheeler and five people were very tired! But every critter has lots of food, water and Studleys tarps are secured once more.
