I've decided this year to work towards "Chapter Guru" - which is to teach on three different areas of my expertise, and have projects to engage my fellow sisters in so my expertise is conveyed and understood. Here's some ideas I had. My plan is to create a video for you to watch, with a little project/assignment to follow. Please tell me what you would be most interested in learning.

1. Music - learn to read music, and beginner piano instruction (or violin or flute)
2. Soap Making
3. Canning
4. Sewing - Quilted Placemat or Applique Project
5. Growing/Drying and Using Herbs in Cooking
6. Second Language - Learn the basics of how to communicate in Dutch
7. Healthy Alternatives - recipes and advice on commonly bought goods, such as crackers, that you can make at home and are also much healthier for you.
8. Cleaning 101 - sharing my cleaning schedule, how to keep your home always ready for unexpected company, and plenty of homemade cleaning supply recipes that are quick, easy and affordable.

These are some ideas I have running through my head - please let me know which ones you'd be interested in learning :) Thank you!!

What a great goal! Here's my 2 cents... I would be most interested in Music, Cleaning, and Soap Making.

Side note: I have the unfortunate duty (unfortunate to me because I'm not very good at it) of teaching the kids in our co-op tin whistle/recorder this year. I think I should be able to apply for some of the music badge after this, but I'm not very good at it I think! I have this task because I'm the artsy one, and 12 weeks out of the schedule the fine arts section deals with art, but the other 12 weeks are music! At least I may get a badge out of it.

Thanks Erin!! If other's are interested in recorder, I'd be happy to teach recorder! Being a general music education teacher in the past, makes me a little versatile!

Joyce, I am so excited that you want to do this! I would love to learn about any of your subjects but probably music the most! Whatever you decide, I'm onboard with!
Erin, I would think that your music class would count in some way. You could email Brian and ask him?

I think I would be most interested in music, cleaning for sure, and second language.

I'd like to do my chapter guru, but am not sure how to approach it!!!

So is there a way to teach oneself the violin or the flute? I have two kiddos who received instruments this year, but I'm clueless!!!

Try voetberg music academy! They have a code that get one free month that expires Jan.14, if you’re interested, Shannon!

Joyce, I'm interested in any of those! I know how to read music and play violin and clarinet (and basic recorder/tin whistle) so that might be the one I'm least interested in but would totally still watch it.

Erin-do you do CC?? We have done cc for 7 years but this semester I've had to make a change and we aren't participating in community anymore.

Sabrina, yes we are doing CC. This is our first year, and I love it. We are not in a actual CC community. We got together with a couple other families that wanted to do it this year, but none of us could afford all of the $ for the actual CC communities, so we are doing our own thing with it. We're pretty much following what it would be for community day, but each mom has her own "tutor" responsibility. I have most of foundations, minus math and English, plus science and fine arts. Another mom does math, English, review games, and another one does essentials and IEW in the afternoon. Tomorrow is my last day of tin whistle! I'm so happy it's almost over. That sounds so bad, but it just isn't my area of expertise!

Haha I see! We did it for 7 years. I started and directed the community in Germany but the cost and dragging everyone out a whole day a week (and having the put the littles in nursery) wasn't working well anymore. It is an awesome program but if it is causing stress that's not good for me. So we decided not to return after Christmas. This summer we will probably actually start doing like you are doing with one other family who was in my community in Germany and moved here a couple months ago. Between us we have 11 kids so that's a pretty good size group lol. Let me know if you have any questions or want some tips!

That is a good size group! Our group was 10 kids, but we had one family drop out after Christmas so now we have 7. I'm not sure if we will add more or not, but I know the plan is to stick with it and get the kids through all of the cycles at least once, and then our oldest kids will start Challenge. I will definitely keep you in mind for any questions! :)
