I just had a hobby lobby trip on Saturday. I made a mala necklace on Sunday. If you don't know what that is, I think they have to do with hindu prayer or something. I don't use it for that I just like how they look. Kind of hippie-ish. I also got some beads to turn an old metal green colander into a sort of wind chime. Not sure when I'll do that though! They had 99 cent simplicity patterns so I got 3 new apron patterns. I want to rummage through the fabric I already have to see if I can throw some together.

Rummaging through my sewing/craft closet (unorganized) to find my rotating ruler to square up quilt blocks. Then finishing up recipes for this group...and, hopefully, cutting fabric squares.

Working on some knitting. Trying to get back in the groove. I have to do things that aren't too involved.

I have been crocheting HATS...and I am on my LAST one! I think I've become "that lady" that makes crazy hats...uh oh! My daugher in law wanted one of those "messy bun" hats so I did one for her. I really liked it...I might have to make myself one. My 3 grandsons wanted a new winter hat...so they put in their order...I did a Spiderman hat, a Star Wars hat (which was a real pain...haha) and a Paw Patrol hat. When I copied off the directions for the Paw Patrol hat, I thought I would only need the directions for the ONE pup, but I copied them all off anyway. And then he looks at me with his big blue eyes and asks for "All the pups???" So, I have made 3 more and have 1 left...he's sharing them with his brothers. But I am putting my foot down and NOT making the 2 girl pups...even though they're pretty cute!

I am so excited that March is Quilting Month!

Sounds like everyone has been really busy!

Erin - I've never heard of a mala necklace. I looked them up, and they are quite pretty! Would love to see the one you made!

Joyce - I finally got the aprons done. I'm going to do things differently next time, but they work for this round. Have you signed up for the next round?

Judith - I wish I would take the time to finish a quilt!!! Did I ever send you a friendship quilt block??? I'm thinking you joined later and I never did!

Denise - I have yet to try true knitting. I can finger knit and arm knit, so surely I can knit with needles... right???

Debbie - Did you find the mini aprons threads? THere is one that Grace started, and then a swap that Linda started. She (Linda) has another swap going for March if you want to join. And I agree with Joyce - we need pictures!!!

I finished the mini aprons and helping the girls with their projects. They went in the mail a day late (why can't I ever be on time for anything!?!?) I'm thinking I may pull out a couple UFOs today and see what I want to tackle next... maybe the Friendship quilt I was part of a couple years ago!?!? Anyone on here want to send a block with their signature so I can add it to my quilt???

Shannon - I'll finish mine today. But they can't go in the mail until next week because it's a week of blizzards here. Great for getting projects done though! I won't sign up for the next round - I need to sew Lily-anne some dresses and work on my husband and our double wedding ring quilt. I don't have enough time for other sewing projects right now. I'm thinking it would be fun to send you a block for a friendship quilt - can you send me more info?

We managed to round up all of the Paw Patrol hats...Spiderman and the Star Wars hats were MIA when I wanted to get a picture. I am DONE with hats for awhile! I am now working on my embroidery and enjoying just stitching.

Here is the link to the original friendship quilt swap - http://www.maryjanesfarm.com/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=65914&whichpage=1

Unfortunately, many people that signed up got busy and were unable to reciprocate blocks. I don't even have enough for a 3 block by 5 block lap quilt! I'm still trying to get the directions again for the correct dimensions.

Shannon, you are in luck! I saw the picture on the link and thought it looked familiar...I have the quilting book that that block is copied out of! So, to make an 8" block, you need 3 strips, 2 1/2"x 7"...one light colored and the other 2 a color of your choice. You will sew these 3 together for the center section. It should be approximately 6 1/2" square when sewn. You then need 2 5 1/2" squares, one light colored and one a color of your choice. Each of these need to be cut once in half on the diagonal. The light colored triangles are sewn on 2 opposite corners of the center square and the other 2 colored triangles are sewn on the other 2 corners. It says that you are then going to square the block up to approximately 8 3/4" square, leaving 1/4" seam allowances on all sides.
What colors would you like in your quilt?

Shannon- I believe that Friendship quilt block swap was open-ended. That may be why we have not received many. I think I joined the swap on Feb. 9, 2015. That was well past some girls' mailing. I did mail one to you..I hope you received it..I did not receive one from you. However, I believe you were in packing stages for a move. Wouldn't it be nice to start this moving again? I think I have a total of 4 squares. Do you still have the master list. I believe you sent out a copy for Kathleen Sept. 14. We had 20 at the time. Maybe more by now. If you can find it would you mind sending out the list again...Just because you have nothing better to do. LOL

Judith - I will send you the list I have. And I will work on your block :) I'm pretty sure Kathleen closed the swap... but yes, it would be delightful to get it going again!!! Would you like to do that honor ;)

LOL, Shannon! I didn't know it was closed! Ack!!!! I'm so not good at taking charge of something. But, yes, I guess I could try to start it up again! I'll see if I can figure out where we left off..and post something in a few days!

Ha! I would just BET your address is way off on that list!!

Here is a photo of some mini aprons I received in a 4th of July swap years ago. Not a great photo because they're up high in a very small area so it was hard to get a good shot of them.

Alicia I feel the same way! Make mini aprons or clean my kitchen, homeschool, co-op, laundry... :/ If only there were more hours in a day! They are so cute. Are they just added as you get them from different people? How does it work?

Linda is organizing the swap... you make however many there are people that sign up (mini apron 1 was 16 aprons). You send them all to Linda, and then she sends you back one of each (including one of yours).
