I thought I put this here, but realized I put it on SPG....Ooops... :/

I am not sure where to put this. I don't want to share with everyone on my FB page or even the main MJ board, but I do WANT TO SHARE!!!

I know many of you already know about my self-made 100 day challenge.
Here are some links if not. I would love you to follow along. I am Blogging, Posting, and Vlogging!!

Blog-https://derbauernhofsite.wordpress.com/category/100-day-challenge/
FB Farm Page-https://www.facebook.com/WinklerDerBauernhof/
Video/ Vlog-https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6rAaWB8U8t13yBZCd-nwLA

The short story is, I plan to do a 100ish day challenge where I attempt to grow approx 60% of our years food on our farm. The catch being that we live 1.5 hrs away. The cabin on our farm, which I plan to move in to with my 3 children (while Matt stays "home" and works at his job, since we haven't had luck finding a good job near the farm), has no power or water.

Well, about 2 weeks ago, we offered our house and 2 acres to my parents. My step-dad is retiring in another month or so and they want something to can have things at and make it their forever home (maybe, never know, as I did move 32 times before graduating HS). This works out, because Matt can still live there so he can work, and THEY will be paying the payments!

Then I was perplexed over where all of my stuff was going to go. There is no way I can fit even HALF of our things in our cabin.

THEN, Matt's dad, who lives next door to the cabin and also bought an old rent house on the other side, offered us the rent house. This house is OLD, and needs a TON of work from renters trashing it out. But it is 5 bedrooms, and has running water! So now, 2 months before our challenge, and an hour and a half away most of the time, I have to figure out how to get this house ready to live in.

First, the roof needs repaired. We looked at it in the dark last night and could see there is definitely a leak going through an upstairs bedroom and causing so much moisture that an old couch and loveseat are covered in mold in the room underneath. Pray we can make this work!!

So i just posted on here and my internet died again. The joys of living out in the "boondocks." You know i am praying for you! Super happy about the challenge of growing your food, the cabin, the place to keep your things, and your parents buying your place. Not happy about the damage the old renter's did, the leak in the roof, and the work you have before you. I know you and Matt will accomplish all your goals though <3

Heres the thing. We currently live (and have for nearly 15 yrs) in an A-frame house. The loft gets unbearably hot in the summer, so we don't use it. That leaves 2 bedrooms, and next to NO storage. AND a tiny kitchen!! We also have 2 full baths and 2 large living areas, but one is so full of antiques from my husband's families' auction a year and a half ago, I can barely move in it.

Thinking about my children having their OWN rooms! WOW! And all the storage! And the HUGE kitchen! Seriously, there are 12 rooms in this house! 2 are very tiny (think huge walk in pantry and laundry/mud room), but it is so much space! I don't know if I will ever want to move into the cabin, now.

All I have been thinking about for a year is how I will ever reduce to 4 rooms. Period.

I find myself looking at curtain fabric and planning out my kitchen....Then I had to stop myself. This all has to be done first-
-Repair hole in roof, possibly decking, as well. (Eventually I want to put on a metal roof, I think)
- Throw out any leftover junk, rip out carpet. Have water turned on (power is on).
- Bleach everything (something I never use anymore, but I am allergic to mold) then air/dehumidify
- Repair holes, then paint. Primer with Killz to be certain we kill any mold leftover. The paint everything the same boring cream color for now.
- replace flooring. Ideally hard floors are preferred in most rooms. We shall see.
- Check furnace and hot water heater, as well as have septic pumped (who knows how long it has been).
- Fill with our things, all while trying to grow food! Because we only have 2 months!!

Not to mention, this all started because Matt suggested putting a garden down there to have water access for it (before the house was offered). So now I have to redo all my Gardening plans. And I am afraid to mention too much of this, just yet, to the rest of the world....BUT I NEED TO TALK TO SOMEONE!! LOL!!

We patched the roof hole for now. Matt has to get up in the attic and see how damaged the decking is. We have plans to have a work weekend second weekend of March. My parents will be coming out, for sure, to work on the roof and strip the carpet. Hoping Matt's cousin can bring his hand (and his big dump trailer ;) ). It will be a busy weekend. Between now and then, we want to work on the kitchen, first so we can access the sinks for water to clean.
