Hope you feel better Shannon.
Oh Shannon I love your question as I have just done my DNA trying to find out who I am and where I come from as I have not a clue. Ancestry.com has been a great tool and having done my DNA I am getting some questions answered and finding family members I have been searching for so many years. All I will say on that my farmgirl Sisters is please hold on to your heart.
So to answer your question Sweet Shannon I would go to England, Ireland as far as my money would last! Through DNA I found I am 42% Great Britain, 21% Ireland/Scotland/Wales, 20% Scandinavian, 1% Mali then the rest like Iberian Peninsula and I do not know the other %. I am so happy to know my roots and where I come from and to finally share something with my Son. My Son and Husband have done their DNA as well so we are learning so much.
I can not wait to hear where other Farmgirls would like to go.

Big Hugs,
Debbie

Debbie - did you do the DNA testing through Ancestry.com? I have debated many times of trying that... I too would love to go to Ireland, as I know a lot of my family came from there. I would love to see all of Europe though quite honestly... I'd like to travel to Thailand for the food. i absolutely adore Thai food, but would love to try the "real thing." Though speaking of food, I'd also enjoy traveling to Vietnam! Love their cuisine!

Yes, Shannon all three of us did our DNA through Ancestry, they have been very helpful with any questions we have had. We have been to many places in Europe when we my husband was in the Military and we were stationed in Germany. We have even been to England for a few days but long before us even thinking of DNA.

My brothers have done extension genealogy on our family.
We are Irish, Scottish, English, Dutch and Indian. Great, great grandmother was a full blooded Mohawk. Not surprising as some of the family were living around the Mohawk Valley

This is kind of boring maybe but I really just would love to see more of the United States. There is so much here that I haven't seen and I really don't have a desire to travel around the world. I used to, but now I hate flying (not the flight part, but the airport part) and hope I never have to again (which is kind of funny since I worked for an airline for 8 years). I guess I would like to see more of Canada too. I've only ever been to Niagara Falls and that's cool but very touristy. I'd like to see some Canadian nature. :)

Erin,
Our country is beautiful. My favorite spot is Maine.

My eldest brother lived in Canada and they had a cottage on Rice Lake. We went to the cottage a couple of times and the views were gorgeous. We took rides around and came upon a cemetery where the man who wrote, What a Friend We Have in Jesus, is buried. Lots of old places to check out. We stayed at their house a few times and i just couldnt get over the beauty and the small town charms. We did see the Falls on the way in and out. We went to the Thousand Lakes area too during one trip. Gorgeous area. I'd love to go to Prince Edward island sometime. We haven't done to much sight seeing in the western part of the country but have driven through to get to CA. Some awesome natural landscapes.

Denise, how wonderful to be a part of so many cultures. To have known your Great, Great Grandmother who was a Mohawk Indian. Can you just imagine what it would have been like tonlearn her culture and to seek her knowledge, oh what a wonderful experience that would have been for you.
Erin your trips to Maine sound like fun, and so picturesque. We have never been or explored the New England area and I would enjoy doing that especially during the fall.

Big Hugs,
Debbie

Erin - I don't think that is boring at all!!! I was extremely blessed growing up, and was able to visit all 48 continental states! I still hope to get to Hawaii and Alaska one day.

I think we should have a MJF Wildflower Get Together up in Canada one year! What do you think Joyce??? Wouldn't that be absolutely lovely!!!!! To explore our neighboring country and especially to visit our dear sweet Joyce <3

Today is multiple "holidays," so I'm struggling to pick just one...

It is Love Note Day, so be sure to write some love notes for your loved ones! Tomorrow is no guarantee!

It is National Good Neighbor Day... think I may bring some canned goodies to my neighbor today...

It is also Read a Child a Book you Like Day. This one I do each and everyday, but was wondering what children books you like. I have many favorite children book authors!!! Dr. Suess, Eric Carle, and Patricia Polacco are some of my favorites.

Erin, I was thinking the same thing...so many beautiful places to see here in the US! I was finally able to visit Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas last spring. Loved it!!! I've been to Maryland and DC but would love to see more of the eastern coast. One of my bucket list trips is to visit the four corners area and see all of the canyons, Monument Valley, Mesa Verde...I think it would be easier to rent a motor home and do that kind of trip.
Shannon, I think that is an excellent idea!!! I read a fictional book years ago about PEI and it has intrigued me ever since.

One of the places I've always wanted to visit is the redwoods in California. Also Washington state, but not Seattle or any big cities. I'm not really big on cities. Even when we visited Ireland we skipped Dublin and went south to Glendalough, a little quiet town and I loved that.

Shannon I like reading books like A Wrinkle in Time, Chronicles of Narnia and Little House on the Prairie to my kids. I read them younger childrens books too, but I'm gonna be honest it was/is a chore for me! I don't enjoy the super little kids books very much. I like the Butter Battle Dr. Suess book, because I feel like it has a good message but I much more enjoy reading them chapter books.

I would love to meet Joyce and other farmgirl sisters in Canada. Seeing pictures of Canada in magazines such a beautiful country.
My son Kent is now 42 but when he was little I just loved reading to him during the day with him snuggled up on my lap. I would read Dr. Suess Books. I would be different voices for the different characters and he would just giggle. Then when he started learning to read he would read to me and try to use different voices it was so funny. Such Sweet Memories!
