Carole, I love your version of flying geese! Nothing like a good quilt to get you grounded.

Carole, How do you finish your edges? Do you do a binding you make or do bias or is there something else you do?

Thanks everyone of your lovely comments.

Denise, I finish my edge with a double fold binding (cut 2.5" folded in half). I mainly use a straight grain binding (make it myself). I will only use a bias binding if I'm using directional fabrics in order to create a funky binding or when I have curves. I sew the binding to the front with the machine and hand stitch it to the back.

I so enjoy the hand stitching! I love hand work!

I'm presently working on a binding tutorial for my blog. If you'd like, I can let you know when I'm done writing it.

That's how I do mine Carol. Stitching to the front handstitching to the back. You really have some beautiful quilts. I like the green you have on that, very pretty.

I am putting the binding on a quilt that is a Christmas present and making a fleece robe for another present. Guess I need to get working.

I do bindings the same way if I am having it judged or giving as a gift, unless it is a quilt that will be washed a lot. If that is the case, I use the double binding but I sew to the back by machine and then also stitch on the front by machine.

Denise, thank you for your kind compliment. It's all about the fabrics, they make the quilts. The green is from Fig Tree Designs - fabric line Chestnut Street! I love that line. I still have quite of few bolts of that line left. Since closing Fibre Junction, I have quite the stash!

Linda, you just reminded me that I need to get off this computer and get cracking quilting on the Christmas Village quilt if I want it done for Christmas. Pumpkin comes home on Tuesday and I do not want to be working on it while she's home.

It's presently loaded on Penelope waiting for me to make a play date!

I finished Pumpkin's quilt! Here is a picture of the machine quilting pattern I stitched. They remind me of poinsettia.

Thanks everyone for your comment.

Well, I was going to start a new project, but not sure what happened but I decided to clean out/organize my quilting studio closet. (you can read about it here: http://www.carolesquiltingetc.com/2017/12/coming-to-my-senses-just-bit.html)

Well, I found lots of UFOs that needed my attention. So that put a kaboshe on the "start a new project". So I tackled this wool table runner. Nothing was done on it except that the words had been stitched. Voila! It's a done deal! I do love it!

You can read the story on that project here: http://www.carolesquiltingetc.com/2017/12/rising-from-ufo-wool-project-stash.html

Isn't that always the way Carole? Really turned out nice. Those empty bins don't seem to stay empty very long!
Is the material the stars are on each separate?

Thanks Denise! Indeed the wool “tongues” are separate. I do love working with wool.

Sadly, the large bin is full of hand projects, hand embroidery, hand appliqué, English paper piecing and wool work ... sigh! We won’t even mention the quilt projects! Lol

In all fairness, I did get rid of all the projects I gag no intentions of working in. What is left are those I still love.

I really need to get serious about my UFP pile and realistic about what I will actually work on and what needs to be let go.

Love that table runner Carole. I am making Olver an afghan. He has informed me his sisters each have one and he needs one too. His will replicate an original Hudson Bay Blanket.

My knitting skills suck, so I am crocheting it, all in single crochet. It will definitely be a warm one. A good project for out -20 degree days.

I've got another finished UFO! Hurray! I do love how it turned out!

I do enjoy working with wool. I think I bought that back in 2009 from a quilt shop in MA. I wanted to start working with wool but was torn with using fusible. Nothing was done on this UFO except the background was cut out and the Santa suit and arm had fusible on them.

So glad I finished it! A new decor for my home!

I so want to pick up another UFO, but I have a sermon to complete. Yes, I volunteered to do another one tomorrow. All in an attempt to better myself, push the envelop and acquire new skills!

Catch you all later!
