When I went to feed and find my Easter eggs, I was shocked by the way my hens looked. They were very scrounge looking. One big red rooster did all of that???? I knew I had three with some back feathers missing but this was crazy. Many have feathers missing on their heads. So I got my trusty fishing net and he no longer has a harem.
A couple of years ago I put two sets of hens together. Snippy, tacky, snooty behavior became very common. One hen was being attacked so I removed her. It continued. So I went and got an older rooster. I put him in, they started up their ugliness and suddenly he told them that was it. My husband and I jut stood there and laughed. In two minutes he let them know he was the boss and they would not be ugly anymore. Chickens are mean. They know who is in their breed and often will not accept intruders. They are just like a bunch of jealous school girls. They are also sweet. And their eggs are pretty nice to have and share.

On our last day in Oregon Ed and I are taking a JetBoat ride and then washing clothes, packing, and getting ready for our flight home tomorrow afternoon. It's been a great trip. Didn't see everything we wanted to but saw lots of scenery both inland and along the Washington and Oregon coasts. Went to a large fabric warehouse shop and left some $$$ there -they are mailing it home. LOL. The dieting starts after we get home. Lol

linda did you get to the Pendleton factory? What part of those states did you see? Oregon has a beautiful Coast line. Washington is pretty too.
Well glad you enjoyed the North coast.

I did not get to Pendleton. We drove a lot of the waahington coast, did the jet boat ride in Portland, saw a lot of inland scenic areas too. Lots of waterfalls too. Was a fun trip, except for high winds through Wyoming and Utah with the motor home.

Linda, glad you had a nice trip.

Connie, so that's why you've been quiet! I was wondering! Of course my imagination just went wild. Seriously, I do need to keep my imagination in check!

Darlene, beautiful reminder!

Well, I thought I would do something special at Fibre (the quilt shop I own) by participating in the Memorial Day Flower event. Anyone can pick up a complimentary rose (to be placed on the tombstone/grave of a veteran) and if they are inclined, can make a donation to the North Country Honor Flight program. It's my way of honouring the fallen and those still with us. The roses are absolutely beautiful!

I bring out that quilt every memorial day and place it in my window. It's a Jo Morton pattern. I love that quilt! Catch you later!

That is beautiful Carole!

I bet you really enjoyed your trip even though Windy and both those areas really get the wind. Did you go through the Salt flats? I have through Dust/ salt storms through that area, we couldn't see athing but we had a CB at time and was able to communicate with the truckers. Before Cell phone time.
Nerve wracking I tell you.

Linda, sounds like a wonderful time.

Managed to get the first coat of paint done on everything. Of painting always makes us see what else needs done so on to the second coat and more washing and cleaning and touch ups on the porch. I decided to give my wicker a refreshing of paint so that has been added to the list. Some of my plants are up even though I got a late start. Supposed to rain here tomorrow so we may be picnicking today.
Have a great day everyone.

Denise~~

Happy Memorial Day Everyone!! Things are quiet here at my little place. Just finished making a big batch of my Mama's bread and butter pickles from the cakes of my daughter's garden. I make them every year as my sisters and brothers all love them too. Some how I am the only one who cans like Mom did so I try and keep the tradition going.

Connie, glad you are plugged in again! Are you doing a garden this year?

Linda, send us a photo of you new fabric stash when it arrives so we can all enjoy your great find!!

Denise, enjoy your company this week and those grandchildren hugs!

Will do, Winnie - I got fruits, veggies, retro, white-on-white, several panels for grandkids and a friend and me. Can't wait to get it - supposed to arrive here on Tuesday. I had been hoping it would get here before I did. LOL!

I now have to start cleaning the house - I have Bunco here on June 10. Only 12 days. LOL!

Congratulations Bonnie!! What an accomplishment and her future is very bright!! Amy, I know you are all so proud of her and life will be very different for her now. Will you still be keeping your grand baby or will they move to their own place once Bonnie gets a job and gets settled?
