Linda, what a haul. I can hardly believe you got all those quilt tops for $20.
I also had no Idea they ever made a metal Hoosier style cabinet. It looks very much like mine, but mine is wood, with the metal flour softer, metal pull out table and metal drawers. I do not have a sugar jar.

I know. Surprised me, too. He definitely didn't know what he had, and said he wanted to sell things. He named a higher price and then lowered it. I was ready to say yes but didn't - WHEW! Some of the fabrics are not 100% cotton - there are blends in the squares, too. But I love them. One with smaller 9-patch blocks is not put together as carefully as the others, but I think all of them are from the same person except for 2 I found in a completely different spot in the shop.

In the 11 double-knit quilts one has a gingham border and another has blend/poly fabrics in a couple of the 9-patches when the rest are double knits. LOL! Kinda strange.

My mother made a Grandmas Flower garden quilt from double knit scraps. Some of the last quilt tops my grand mother pieced were far from perfect, but still beautiful. She lived alone, four miles from the nearest tiny store. She milked her cow twice a day, Fed the chickens, gathered the eggs, tended the garden, and stitched on her old treddle machine. She lived this lonely life for many years after my grandfather died. She did not drive.

Yep - women used what they had available - whatever fabric it was for quilts. LOL! They made quilts from whatever fabrics were available to them.

Our guild makes quilts for Veterans and for children. The children's quilts MUST BE 100% cotton, but the Veterans can take quilts using any fabrics. It was nice of the man at the thrift shop to let me have these for the guild.

Yes that was very nice of him. People who drove would stop by the sewing factory in Hamilton and get a box of scraps for my grandmother sometimes. She usually has to sew these small pieces together to get a piece to cut her quilt pieces from.

Good morning everyone,

Linda, I cannot believe the great finds you purchased! Lucky you!

Not much going on in my world. Busy working and quilting! Quiet weekend for me. Did get my wisdom (gray hair) hidden yesterday! I think I'm ready to go au naturel with my hair. It may mean that I get it cut short! Hum ... not sure I'm ready for that, but we'll see.

Have a great day! Catch you later! Cheers!

Good luck on your hair, Mostly because of working I am not ready to go natural with mine.
I am going to the new movie that is out about the Miracle with our Bible Study group tonight. Looking forward to that.

Just checking in, hope everyone is feeling a little better. Still allergie season here but doing okay.
Had my dad in the hospital for the last couple of days, he's home now. But setting at the hospital is not for me. Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. Now back to my chorus.

Sherry, sitting at the hospital(or trying to get a bit of rest on the hard floor) is never fun. I guess we all do our share of it in our lifetimes. I hope the remainder of your week goes well.

Sherry I have sat in hospitals so much the last few years with my parents, that medical people recognize me and my family. I know all the floors and waiting rooms quite well. Except for the one I call the Fun Floor. That's where babies are born. Wish I didn't know the routine and my way around so well. Kind of sad, but necessary. I feel for anyone that has to spend time there.

Carole did you know they make grey hair colors. I wish I had known that when I quit coloring my hair. It would have helped with the awkward time of the definite line of grey hair and colored hair. Oh well I survived it. It took quite a while for it to grow out, but I'm glad I don't have to keep up with the roots any more. I was 23 when I started going grey. Way to young to have grey hair. Quit coloring it when I was about 43. Can't believe that was 20 years ago already. Since it has grown out, I get compliments on how pretty people think it is. Hope you have success with yours.

The movie Miracles in Heaven is so worth going to. It was a true story and they show the actual family at the end and the little girl is in the 7th grade and doing fine. It was really good.

Heading to Ohio tomorrow. Looking forward to spending some time with my littles! Haven't seen them in almost 4 months.
Lots of stuff to get done yet before we leave. Taking some things along for the girls to do. Seems they are all about doing crafts right now. Lol. At least that is what they told me over the phone yesterday. The oldest is always asking her mom to do a craft. Going to have to feed that little obsession while I can.

Shannon, they are 3 and 5. I found some stamps and I am taking a blank sketch book and ink pads for them to stamp and then color. Hobby lobby had a great sale so I got a bunch of stamps for them to use. I also have fat glue sticks and stickers. Their mom has tons of stuff she collects for them to use. She gets lots of ideas on Pinterest.
