Hey everyone,

I love the month of March .... here in the way northeast, you can occasionally get a warm spring day ... warm enough to sit outside (bundled up of course) and enjoy some rays. Of course with the crazy weather we've been having, I don't know what to expect from March!

This month we have St Patricks day on March 17. Anyone doing something festive?

When I lived in Montreal, there was the St Patrick's parade. Always fun to see the floats parading down St Catherine's street and hit an Irish Pub to warm up! lol

Any decorators out there? Do share pictures! I so don't have a decorator gene in me!

Catch you later!

We are 12 miles from Dublin. Dublin, Texas, that is. I understand that they have a parade, etc. But I have never been, because I have always been at work. When the company that bought out Dr. Pepper sued the bottling works, it took away some of the tiny town's spirit. They had a huge following because they were still making the original recipe with Imperial pure cane sugar. They make sodas now, but are not allowed to make Dr. Pepper.

They make a great "blackberry" that tastes almost like the original Dr. Pepper.

We usually have a day celebrating with the kids and grandkids. Lots of Irish blood on both sides. Explains the short tempers around. Have our annual corned beef dinner. We don't live in an area that does anything to celebrate. Every year I reread "Let Me Die in Ireland". It is the true story of the life of Saint Patrick. Dispels a lot of the myths that are out there about him.

I enjoy St. Patrick's Day... both the fun stuff of wearing green, and eating green or Irish food, as well as the history of St. Patrick. Denise I will have to try to find that book! Change that - I not only found it, but also ordered it. Our breakfast this year will be a spinach quiche in the shape of a shamrock. For dinner, I am making shepherds pie (with lamb) and a side that at this time is undetermined ;)

Easter is this month as well!

I love corned beef and cabbage so I may try fixing that. I've made it in the crock pot before and that makes it easy.

I'll have to look for that book about St. Patrick.

I also hope someone has a good recipe and tips. My only experience with making it was in Bible School.

Our other tradition is that our family wears orange on St. Patrick's day.
I do have an Irish Soda bread recipe I will try to post in the next couple of days. I need to find it.

I celebrate St. Patrick's day in a special way. I married my sweetheart 54 years ago on that day. My adoptive dad was Irish so we always celebrated with the wear in' of the green. Funny thing is when I found my natural family, I am Scot, Norwegian, German and Cherokee. But what the heck, everyone celebrates our anniversary.

Bonnie, my dad's ancestors were Scottish...but forced to move to Ireland long long ago. They moved on to England, then in the early 1600s to America.

Up until a few years ago, I spent all day (and night) performing on St. Past. My music partner Kate is Irish, I think she actually has dual citizenship. So we had quite a show of Irish songs, fiddle music and stories. We would start around 7:00 at the breakfast for the people participating in the parade, then go from gig to gig all day until around midnight. It was fun in a way, but people use the day as an excuse to drink too much, and we didn't enjoy being around that! She's in Florida this year, so I'm only doing one little performance on my own. Then I'll watch " The Quiet Man" or "Finnian's Rainbow." Anyone else like those movies?

Happy Day!

I always wear the Green and Green is my favorite color. This year our plan is to go to Patrick's Irish Pub and Grub. Everyone says it is great. The owner is from Ireland! When I was in Ireland in 2011 I fell in love with the oatmeal with fresh cream!! We spent most of our trip in the Country side of Killarney,( we had fresh food every day!) just a couple days in Dublin, which was fine with me, it reminded me of a tiny New York city, without all the crime of course! here is a few pics. I have 500 LOL! I need to transfer to a flashdrive. I have some gorgeous pictures of the flowers blooming. I went the week after St. Patrick's Day! St. Patrick's in Dublin! flower market in Dublin.

Beautiful pictures Connie. My sister took my mom there last year, and I have enjoyed looking at her pictures and hearing of thier adventures. It is such a lovely country.

Beautiful photos of Ireland, Connie! Thank-you for sharing with us. I would love to visit the emerald Isle some day as well.

As for March musings, we have been having a full on Spring happening the past week. It got warmer in the days and less cold at night and everything started opening up. The one draw back is yellow Pine Pollen now blowing everywhere and making my allergies flare up. This is the most beautiful time of the year to live in Florida because it is not humid or too hot. I saw on weather.com that next week we are supposed to reach the mid 80s a few days??@ Say what? Already? Hopefully, it will be a blip and we will be back to the low 70s which is perfect. This week, I have been having fun working on three Spring themed swaps I signed up for. Hehehe, I feel like one of Peter Cottontail's helper Hens getting Easter fun together to ship out!

Let me see if I can find any of my pictures from Ireland. I loved visiting there. The air was so fresh and the grasses so green. Ed and I really want to take a trip there - sooner the better for me. LOL!

Gorgeous pictures of Ireland! My dad is Irish and Cherokee Indian (and a Marine to boot! whew!) Anyways, Ireland is one place i have always wanted to visit, though I doubt I will ever get out of the states again.

Denise - why orange? Wondering about he significance :)

Winnie - I know what you mean about Spring being here. Thankfully we are only in the 60s today and tomorrow, then up we go. Supposedly we are high n pollen right now as well, but amazingly, my allergies do not seem too bad at the moment. It is all a matter of time, lol. I too love the lack of humidity right now - it is quite glorious! Even in the 70/80s, I can take the kids for a walk in the afternoon right now. I need to get a move on it for my spring swaps. Sadly I missed the cut off date for the one for this henhouse :(
