Thanks Shannon. If your younger children can't have cayenne pepper, reduce or eliminate it. Enjoy.
When I was a kid I ate scrambled eggs with chili...just like my daddy...but I topped mine off with ketchup.

All of my kids enjoy some spice, though Sammi enjoys it a little less spicy. Cayenne is added to most foods!

Breakfast for supper. Omelets with bell peppers, broccoli, onions, cheese, and hot peppers in my husband's. Potato cakes, sausage patties and French toast. My dh could eat breakfast all the time.

Today I'm cooking Marcella Heirloom Beans in my new lodge enamelware 3 1/2 Qt Dutch-oven. I bought it on Amazon and I'm like a kid with a new toy when it comes to a new pot or pan. Yesterday I cooked a pork roast in it - today beans - tomorrow I'll think of something.

Tonight I am creating a new bakeover or two. Those are fun... though i think I may overload them! When I flip them out, I have a MOUND of filling!

Shannon I gifted my great niece MJF's bake over skillet with Budget Mix. She made the potato asparagus recipe and one of the triplets, Gentry, said it was delicious. Seems like everybody likes bake overs. Let us know how yours turns out.

Sara, what brand of dutch oven did you get? I've been coveting one for a while now.

Shannon, I'm coming over for dinner. You're such an innovative cook! So much variety! lol

Nothing much cooking at my house. I treated myself to a Montreal Smoke Meat Calzone for lunch from the pizzeria down the road from Fibre and I ate the whole thing! It was delish!

Catch you later! Cheers!

Carole it's a Lodge Dutch oven. Here's their site:
http://shop.lodgemfg.com/

I bought mine on Amazon because it was cheaper - like almost half.

Mine is a 3 1/2 Qt. They have smaller and larger ones.

Sara have you ever checked out the website webstaurantstore.com? That is where I usually get my dutch ovens and cast iron pans, along with a lot of kitchen stuff, because their prices are lovely!!!

Sometimes I throw something together and it comes together to create a great dish - today is one of those days. I used my spiral vegetable gadget to do a zucchini and carrot. Added that to a pot of thinly sliced bok choy - white & green parts; garlic; green onions; sauté with cilantro olive oil; then added Tabasco Bloody Mary Mix and chicken broth; and smelt shell pasta. It was soooooo good and I ate it with 3 slices of wheat French bread. Way too much bread but it was so good with the soup and I will make it up at supper by eating less - I hope.

Shannon your crab soup sounds good. I'm allergic to sea food like crab, scrimp, clams, etc. - all the good stuff.

I'm so sorry Sara! Amazingly, seafood is one thing I'm not allergic to! Have you always been allergic??? There are times I wish I had known about my food allergies all my life... so I wouldn't miss things like cheese! But then again, at least I have the memories...

I have a cast iron dutch oven with the Enammel lining. It is so heavy, but a great pot to make candied sweet potatoes for the holidays.
Several years ago my son bought me one for Christmas. It is oval, black and the walls are thin. It is not nearly as heavy but cooks like a dream. It is Le Creuset. I know how much it cost. It was a lot. But it was a gift of love and makes the best pot roast for cold weather Sunday dinners.

Yes Marilyn my enamel cast iron Dutch oven is heavy but it works great on my glass top stove as well as in the oven. I keep it in a cabinet only a couple of feet from the stove so I don't have to carry it very far. As far as clean up it quite easy and little scrubbing with only Dawn and a dishrag does the job.

To get a Le Creuset as a gift is great. I bought a small one at an antique shop for $35 and used it for several years until it developed cracks. The owner of the shop bought a set from a woman moving who couldn't afford to ship them. It was showing wear when I bought it but for three years I enjoyed it. I'm had new pots not last that long so I figure I got my monies worth.

Shannon the allergy to seafood developed over time and is now severe. The reaction I get is my throat starts to close up . It's been so long now I don't even think about seafood anymore. I can eat salmon and catfish if I limit them to once a month. Fish eaten more often reacts as ear infections. I have an intolerantance to iodine.

I love my Le Creuset lidded pot and use it a lot. I also have my Mama's cast iron skillets and a cast iron dutch oven that I love to use as well. Both are perfect for stove top or oven use.
