I think some times they live for the weekend so they can get those sleepovers! She seems to be doing well. I so appreciate all of you and your prayers.

Emily got to have her sleepover. Had to help her with the showering and shampooing but,she can dress herself with button up clothes. She brought her pain meds and so far she is doing well. She is just happy to be here.
Her mom had to go back to her wearing the sling instead of the back brace which allowed her to use her arm but she does things she shouldn't and has to ice it. She does get bored because there is little she can do. She is not allowed to run, climb, jump or lift her arm up above shoulder level. For a child that cuts out a lot for them.

Well Denise, how old is Emily? Please tell her I've said a prayer for her, and more will follow!
Kids heal so quickly. When Had was a year and a half, she fractured her lower left arm... Her parents were traveling home from Missouri. That was a very long night for gran and baby. The next morning they saw her pediatric doc who put a splint on it. He confirmed it was broken but called the orthopaedic doc. He was the only one in town...so you know the wait was sooo long! Two weeks later she appeared before the doc...who asked why she had so much duct tape on her arm. The horse shoer had put it there because she kept trying to remove the splint. Anyway the doctor could not find a fracture. In two weeks it had healed that much!!! She was free!!! And so excited!!!
So I hope Emily heals in that month. I'm sure she will!

Marilyn, thank you! She is on activity restrictions for 7 weeks. That is hard for a 9 year old.

Aunts are special! I am lucky and blessed to still have my dad's 4 sisters. It will be a sad day when they aren't here anymore.

I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt, Denise. Unfortunately, I have none of my aunts or uncles left. So happy you knew her as long as you did.

Hugs and prayers for you and your family.

She was the last one of my dad's siblings and she was 101 yrs old. Her daughter told me she was ready to go. She went peacefully in her sleep. That was how she wanted to go. It's only sad for those of us left behind. I am the youngest of all the cousins.

Denise, I am sorry to hear your Aunt passed but at 101 what an amazing life she lived!! How wonderful you were able to have her all these years. I bet she had a very interesting life. What was she like and what were her interests?

Winnie,
Her life revolved around her husband and 7 children. In the 70s I remember she was at our house at a party of some sort. Tupperware or baby shower or something and she had her first of a few strokes. She regained her speech ,though after that, she seemed to talk fast and it was hard to understand her. She not only had 7 children but like my mom she cared for foster children also. She had two more strokes later and lost the use of her left arm and leg. We kept in touch faithfully ever since I married and moved away. I remember the big gardens they used to have and all the canning she used to do to feed their big family. All of her children but one live nearby. There will be many including us traveling for the funeral. I expect there to be into the hundreds paying their respects to her.
She touched so many lives in so many ways. Our family alone will constitute most of those at the funeral I'm sure.

Judith, thank you. She was the last of my dad's siblings. His side of the family was very close and still is now. Just about everyone on our street was a family member of dad's. If they weren't on our street they were just around the corner. This aunt lived next door to us. She was there my whole life and I spent a lot of time at her house. Probably as much as at my own.
It's hard to see a generation pass from this world.
Two of the girls (sisters) that they fostered were never adopted but considered her their mother and took part in caring for her. We just don't see commitment like their family has to one another these days. I'm very grateful that all the cousins are close still. I am the age of most of my cousin's children as some of my cousins were born before my dad. He was the youngest and I am the youngest in our family. 15 years between my eldest brother and I and there were only 4 of us. So, some big age gaps. I was only 8 or so when my sister married at 21 so I was her flower girl. Sorry for rambling. Seems the passing of someone always brings out the history.

My 7 year old sister was my flower girl when I married when I was 21. It was a very small wedding but she wanted to be a flower girl so we gave her flowers. Us older folks don't like to see people die but we do like seeing old friends and family at funerals. Sometimes it is the last time we will see them. I remember at one funeral the two maiden aunts running around getting information from everyone for their genealogy charts.

My brothers and cousin have spent a lot of time doing the genealogy of our family. My cousins is more extensive because he not only went back but has gone forward to all who have been born so far. It is a big job when you have large families like ours. At some points our families intertwine because of cousins marrying way back way. I'm sure that made some of it difficult. Or possibly easier, I don't know.
They set the services for next week so we will be there. I will be the only one of my immediate family there as my brothers are much further away and they weren't as close to her.

I just found out that my former neighbor's 6 year old daughter is in the hospital again (she fought a non-covid virus last fall)- this time she is fighting 3 different bacterial infections and 1 virus. She wasn't able to get rid of the MRSA and MSSA from the fall and now has a third bacteria; plus she has a coronavirus again (not CIVID). She has Cystic Fibrosis, so this is much more serious than when someone has no health problems; the mucus we normally sneeze or cough out builds up in her lungs. Please put Brenda Juarez on your prayer list.

Her mother said Brenda is taking this pretty well and is part of her bubbly self. Her mother and baby brother are in the hospital room with her like before.
