Hi everyone!

I'm sorry I haven't been here. I think I've had a bit of depression lately. The Irish in me hates to admit to that, but I don't see any other way to put it. I'm pretty sure it coincided with when I stopped taking my placenta pills too. I guess they call them "happy pills" for a reason. It's possible that's all in my head though. My husband took some time off work for the holidays and today is his first day off, so I'm feeling the pressure lifted. I just caught up a little bit on what's been going on with everyone.

Shannon, I'm so happy you made it out to Wyoming! It sounds like you've had a rough time lately. How is Emi doing now? Are her burns healing well? I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

Alicia, I'm sorry about your recent loss. You and your family will be in my prayers also.

We're busy around here, as most of you are I'm sure around this time of the year. My daughter just had her 5th birthday. I can't believe how big she is. One of the moms in our homeschool group gave her a farmer Barbie for her birthday. I had to take a picture of it to show you all!

She comes with a little chicken! Isn't that cute?

I'll try to check back in before Christmas, but if I don't, I hope you all have a very happy Christmas. Please keep me in your prayers. I'm trying very hard to pull myself out of this funk. I know it will never happen without prayer.

Merry Christmas Eve, Farmgirl Sisters! I hope that everyone is safe and cozy at home today!
I just finished my Christmas gifts....literally...like 15 minutes ago! AND I started last January! So glad I didn't put things off any longer! I have been working on my Expert Homespun Christmas badge and I think I will have it by the end of the month. Needless to say, I've been slaving away finishing things and haven't spent much time on the computer. But I have REALLY missed chatting with everyone and I plan to be back on here immediately!
Erin, I love the Barbie! We have the John Deere Barbie...she's put away for now. My 3 grandsons don't think much of "girl stuff". I hope that you'll be feeling better soon and your load will lighten with the busyness of the season behind you.
Shannon, I love the idea of the monthly swap and challenges! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
God's blessings to all of you!

So I just applied for more badges and realized I had not shared about what I found for our home insulation on here (sorry ladies!). So our walls and part of the flooring is rolled insulation and the attic is blown. Our windows are double paned and single sliding. Basically this equivocates to lots of loss of heat and cold air coming in right now! Over time we are hoping to put more insulation in the floors via the basement, as well as extra insulation in the attic. In addition, we are looking to replace the windows... but that will be about ten years down the road!

Shannon - it was nice to hear about your house...we just re-did our attic to put in the proper amount of insulation. I was actually looking at that badge thinking if I had met the requirements yet for it...

So did you apply Joyce?

I am slowly working on catching up on applying for all the badges I have earned. It is so funny because I write things up and mark them on the checklist, but then apply for a bunch at once!

Another one I am about to apply for is the Language/Culture. When we had looked at doing it as a group, I was going to attempt to learn Lakota Sioux. It was nearly impossible for me to get the hang of it. Instead, I decided to do German... as much of my mom's side of the family is German, and we have dear friends living there (the wife is actually from there) that we would LOVE to visit! My oldest, Katie, has also been requesting to learn German, so it is working quite well! The influential person I decided to learn more about was Martin Luther. He is most renowned for standing up against Catholicism and its errors in beliefs and teachings. He is considered o be the initiator of the Protestant Reformation.

500th anniversary of the Protestant reformation this year! Crazy.

Happy New Year everyone! Thank you for your words of encouragement. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Here's a picture of me and the family from Christmas Eve.

My house is still Christmas-y until this weekend, so I'm soaking in my last bit of tree time. Do you girls do New Years resolutions at all? I try not to, or at least not to label them that since the stigma is people never keep them!

Lovely picture Erin. nice to see you here on the boards :) We are keeping all the Christmas decorations up until after Sammi's birthday on the 16th. As far as resolutions, I prefer goals for the year. I am hoping to update my blog with this year's goals in the near future :)

Erin, I really enjoyed seeing your picture and "meeting" your family! I have two goals this year - to finish my double wedding ring quilt and my youngest son's scrapbook :)

Sounds very reasonable. I need to wake up earlier and be more organized. I asked the ladies in my homeschool group to recommend a planner and one of them recommended bullet journaling so I'm going to try that. Have you heard of that before? I never had, but a quick YouTube or Pinterest search will give you an idea. I like the idea of because you can customize it to your needs. YouTube has some good videos on homeschool bullet journaling too.

Joyce, what color is your double wedding ring quilt? I made one for my sister years ago for a wedding gift and did it in jewel tones. I've always wanted to make one in pastels, like pale pink.

It's in vintage colours, Debbie. Dark blue, Dark green, browns and dark cream are the main colours.

Beautiful photo Erin!

Joyce, I have a wedding ring quilt on my bed done in white and different shades of blue.

My daughter made one some years ago in pastel shades. She did a beautiful job. It was her first quilt though now she realizes it was a difficult pattern for the first one.

Shannon, I don't have any pictures of her quilt. She has it in her home and it has snuggled three babies I'm sure!
It is a twin size as she was still at home when she made it.

I gave the one I made to my sister so I don't have it for a picture....I should've taken a photo of it back then. I have started taking pictures of the ones I finish.

I do have a photo of one I made years ago. I will post it if I can find it. It wasn't a wedding ring pattern. I believe it was called cactus basket. This is the wedding ring quilt we have on our bed. Was all hand quilted.
