I just found out my aunt passed away. We weren't especially close, but she was my mom's little sister. My mom isn't taking it well, at all. I am sure no one in the family is. Everyone is still at the hospital. She and her husband had a deer run in front of them on their motorcycle. They say my aunt, Angie, never felt anything. Scott, her husband is in ICU. Could I ask for some prayers of peace, please? |

Alicia, I am so sorry for your family's loss. yes, I will pray for your entire family, especially your mom and uncle.
Joyce, I am going to miss you! I just received your recipes yesterday. Thank you, for those and the tuck. I am excited to use it on Thanksgiving. I have swaps to catch up with you also. So, at least this won't be "cold turkey". Maybe you'll come back later. . |

Hi all! I'm cheating and copying and pasting a post I made on the porch...
Soooooo an update on us... We are officially living in Wyoming now :) It has been a bumpy ride up to this point! We took a couple weeks to get out here, visiting friends and family on the way. Got to meet Alicia and her family (DandeeRose)... been online friends for 9+ years, and just now met! We should have made it happen a long time ago! Moved in the house two weeks ago.... Had no internet until the other day, and terrible cell phone reception! But we are getting there. We have had to replace our hot water heater and refrigerator, the dishwasher leaks and the dryer takes two hours to dry. But the biggest issue has been our closing costs... We were instructed to wire them a couple days prior to closing, were sent wire instructions, and did so. Only to find out that the wiring instructions were fraud and we are now out $5k!!!! To say we are struggling is an understatement! Moving is expensive enough, without an added loss! We are trusting God to provide and let me tell you, He has blessed! We have received free deer and elk meat... not a ton, but a couple pounds here and there, that are keeping our bellies full. We also met with a gentleman the other day who said he has lots of deer tags left who said he will give us one of the deer he gets in the next few weeks. God is so good!!! Speaking of God, we are hoping to try a new church this Sunday. We haven't gone up to this point due to all of us being sick with all the climate changes. We love the area and and are looking forward to building our homestead here! We are still waiting on our belongings to arrive... they are saying by the 21st. |

Shannon, So exciting to be in a new home. So sorry about the fraud. I have never heard of wiring money for that particular situation, we always used certified checks made out to the closing company we were using. Did everything get worked with closing then? So glad you have great neighbors and friends already to help you. Hope you get your things soon.

Shannon, what a joyful thing!...to be able to meet Alicia and her family!!!
On an entirely different note, I am so sorry about the fraud! Someone will have to answer to his/her maker.
Did your tea exchange pkg. arrive? |

Denise - I can totally understand why people bring certified checks instead of wiring funds. This was our first experience with wiring money, and NEVER again! We are out that money!!!
Judith - I did indeed receive my tea package. Thank you so very very much!
Alicia - we really did have a grand time!!! Why in the world did it take us so long???
Joyce - I wish our stuff would get here so we could unpack!!!
Life here is relatively uneventful. Waiting on our stuff to get here, expecting snow tomorrow night (but we have no winter coats, lol), have found goat milk for Emi (not sure for how long though... they will be drying the goats soon), and enjoying no humidity :) |

Hi Wildflowers :) Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving!!! I'm asking for prayers... as we are still waiting for our stuff, we still have no winter stuff to speak of. The kiddos are starting to get sick, as am I. Your prayers would be appreciated! |

How are things, Shannon? Are you planning to do another ornament exchange next year? I was thinking maybe it would be fun to do something different for the exchange - maybe a tea exchange...or??? |

What do you guys think about a themed swap each month? I'm not talking ornaments (though that could be part of the swap), but like on the main forum but just between our henhouse? We could do a tea swap for January if you'd like... maybe swap tea and either a teacup or teapot? And anything else you want to include? Thoughts??? |

That sounds great, Shannon! I like that idea :) We could base our ideas, perhaps, on the time of year. It might be fun for spring to do a gardening theme. Recipes should be ending in March, so that will give us all a bit more time - hopefully...lol! |

Copying this from the main forum... I have a definite praise.... as well as asking for more prayers. First the praise... we have our belongings!!!! They got here Friday and we are slowly working through the unpacking process... though the tree was unpacked kinda early on ;) As for the prayer request... I'm copying what I wrote on the porch...
I am not a superstition person. I believe bad things happen because we live in a fallen world. I believe God has everything under His control. I believe I will learn from each and every life event as long as I pay attention and put the effort in. I believe that everything will work together for good of God's Kingdom! But I am mentally and emotionally drained. Last night, a little after eight, Emi, my 15 month old, pulled a cup of hot tea down that my hubby had put on the end table. It happened so fast and yet it seemed like it was in slow motion. I set the cup up (only half ended up dumping), stripped her shirt off, and hubby and I got her in the bathtub with cold water running down her hand, arm, and on her chest. We then put burn cream on it, and thought she was good. She played, drank a bottle, and went to sleep. I sat and cried on and off feeling like a failure as a mom. Then about two hours later she woke up screaming... she arched her head back as she screamed and we saw for the first time that where her chin usually rests on her chest, especially when she is tired, was burnt... both under her chin and on her chest! The skin had rubbed off due to the friction. My heart broke all over again and we took her into the ER, about 45 minutes away. They cleaned it up, bandaged it, gave her meds, and said she will be okay. We got to bed around 0230 this morning. I thought surely today would be an okay day... we should be getting paid hubby's last paycheck... they have been holding it, which they are allowed to do for ten days (apparently ten business days!?!?). No joy! They still have not paid... all we can hope and assume is they considered the 7th a holiday, so today would be the 10th business day in that case and maybe we will get paid tomorrow... |
