OK Girls - I have a confession to make. I love working on the badges...but how do you find time to put your accomplished badges on to something? I haven't done one - isn't that awful!? I have a bag that I bought 2 years ago to attach them to, but I find between homeschooling, teaching music, being a mom/wife/homemaker and working on the badges and several swaps a year, I find it so so difficult to get the badges put on something. I have a quilt here that I am in the process of making for our 10th anniversary - our 10th anniversary was 2 years ago! So, I'm curious - how do you all fit it in?

LOL! Oh sweet Joyce!!! I have no clue how many badges I have earned now, and I still do not have a single one embroidered!!! You are surely not the only one!!! I haven't even decided how to display them. I debated doing a hexagon quilt, but honestly I seriously doubt I would ever get it done!!! I've thought about the bag option, but am not sure what I would use the bag for... just not sure what to do! Also debated an apron...

Here is my gazillion dollar question... I am HORRIBLE as a housewife! How do you learn how to clean??? Is there some course out there to learn how to do it? I tried FlyLady once and failed miserably!!! The whole "put your shoes on" about did me in, lol

Oh Shannon - you MUST visit http://thefocusedhomemaker.com/. She has a course, but also some DVD's. I have two of them, and I'd be happy to send them to you to borrow and watch. She's very encouraging and Godly!

Shannon and Joyce....I have such admiration for you girls....and all home schooling moms! If I had school aged children now, I would definitely do it myself! Being a mom and homemaker is a JOB in itself...AND you manage to homeschool as well. I am in awe! And you're wondering how to get more done! haha When I read about all that you do, I think I should be getting more done, myself!! I think doing what you are doing is wonderful and your children are so lucky! It makes me think of a neighbor we have that has 2 young children and she is always leaving them with a sitter....or her aunt a few times a week...never taking them with her like most moms do...leaving them for weekends so she can have her "own time" away....it's so sad. I really don't think she spends much time with them. They are lucky that their dad loves them so much. She will be sorry one of these days.

Shannon, you mentioned cleaning house! When my son was a baby, I found a book called "Sidetracked Home Executives". It was written by 2 hilarious sisters that had 7 children between them. They used to be on a local tv show and talked about how unorganized they were and how they set up this card file system to help keep them on track. I set one up then and have had one going on and off for the past 31 years. It takes a little bit to get it set up but it's really fun and it DOES work! You can make it as easy or as detailed as you'd like. This summer I was busy while we were farming and didn't follow it for a couple of months but it was so easy to get back to it and get all caught up. They wrote a second book just for organizing the kitchen and setting up menu cards which is a REAL time saver! That is one thing that I struggle with day after day...what would you like for dinner???? After awhile, you get tired of your own cooking and nothing sounds good!!! It takes a bit to get your cards done, but after that, it's super quick to pull out how many cards you need for meals that week. You can shop the ads with what's on sale and use your menu cards to help you think of ideas for dinner.

My copy of the first book is a little worse for wear but I'd be happy to share it with anyone if you'd like! They aren't in book stores anymore but I'm sure that Amazon would carry them.

Debbie - that sounds sooo neat!!! I'd love to take a peek at the book to see what it's all about. It sounds so interesting! Would you be willing to send it to me to borrow? Or would that be too much shipping?

Shannon - no package yet :(

Yeah...sweet potato dessert is more like it....by the time you add all of the butter and sugar I think it doesn't qualify for a vegetable anymore! It is my favorite!

I was going to mention earlier that I haven't done any embroidery on my merit badges!!! So far I have traced them onto a big piece of muslin with a brown pigma pen..it kind of has a sepia look to it. I do a lot of embroidery and I think most of the badges have REALLY TINY details that would probably make me nuts if I were going to actually embroider them! I left enough space around each one so if I ever DO figure out what to do with them, I'll have room to cut around them. I have NO idea what I will put them on....this makes me feel better that I am not alone!

Hey ladies! Sorry I have been MIA!

Joyce- I started embroidering ONE patch, once upon a time (probably 2-3 years ago), but I haven't done any since then. They pile up! lol!

I get the housekeeping issues! It's tough getting stuff done. :/

Tuesday night I had the honor of hosting Shannon and crew at our cabin for a campout. It was DELIGHTFUL!! Shannon and I have been friends online for about 9 years. Finally meeting IRL was amazing! <3

I finally heard from Shannon today! I will admit I was getting worried. It has been 2 and a half weeks since she and her family camped out at our cabin with us. Apparently her phone didn't work in WY. lol!! She she got a new one and sent me a text. Still no internet at the house she said. They have had a few bumps, but they are home!
