I posted this on the main forum, but am copying and pasting it here...

This morning, Aly, our two year, tried to help in the kitchen. Sammi was making me a cup of tea, while Brad was working on breakfast. In the process, Aly dumped a scalding hot cup of water/tea (apparently the tea bag had not made it to the mug yet) down her left side. She has second degree burns from her left shoulder to her finger tips, as well as her left rib cage. She was taken to MUSC ER via ambulance. They scrubbed the dead skin off, in efforts to reduce risk of infection, and bandaged her up. On Monday we start seeing the burn center.

Our family greatly appreciates your prayers through this! We have no idea, as of yet, what we are looking at as far as healing time frame, dressing changes, etc. But our Father in Heaven does! And we are comforted knowing once again that this did not come as a surprise to Him, and He has it all under control!

You know what, I wasn't sure either... It's on the Raising Jane blog that Mary Jane has. In the chat room the entries are listed under the News section.

Congratulations, Erin! Wooo Hoooo!

Shannon, its all right to cry about Aly! We are all still praying for her I'm sure. My son was about 10 mos. when he was first injured. We were so poor and moved often. We used a cable spool for the kitchen table/work table. Unfortunately, it was only about as high as the seat of a folding chair. I left him with his father for about 45 mins. The stove didn't work, so we cooked in a toaster oven. Its amazing what you can cook with one of those. Anyway, his father had the toaster oven on the table and plugged in to make grilled cheese. He was busy doing something else with his back to baby. Little John waddled over and out of curiosity put the palm of his right hand on top of the toaster oven. The heating element was right under the lid. When I got home his little hand was one huge blister. Big John had contacted his mother who told him to put butter on it. I think that was an old time remedy. Of course, that only made it worse. That was the first time I left baby alone with dad. I felt guilty and anxious for leaving them alone and came home early to find this. We called a cab We lived in a large city) and went to emergency. I don't know how he ended up with no scar. (I became a very protective mother). This is 44 yrs. later. I still feel guilty for leaving him. But, you know, Shannon, life happens. John doesn't even remember it...and, my heart aches even now as I right this. And, I just wanted you to know you aren't the only one. Remember that its not life threatening. Hugs and more hugs!

Shannon, I hope Aly is in less pain today. Is she at home or did they keep overnight? Praying for quick and complete healing for her.

I sure hope Aly is in less pain too, Shannon. I wondered if she is in the hospital. Take good care of yourself too. Prayers continued for all of you.

I'm trying to find the best way to word an update... keeping it honest but upbeat... but I'm not sure I can today... so I will just be matter-of-fact. Aly is home. We went to the burn center yesterday and they scrubbed all the skin off the top of her hand and redressed all of the areas. She has difficulty getting comfortable. I have to change her dressings tomorrow and take pictures, then e-mail them to the burn center. Good news is that in about 10 days the raw areas should not be raw any more.

Shannon, I am keeping a constant prayer going for your sweet girl. I pray God will give her comfort and you rest. I know you have a full plate. Sure wish I was closer because I'd love to be able to help you out. Since praying is all I can do, I will do it fervently.

I keep forgetting to check in here!! Goodness, so much going on.

Praying for Shannon of course!!

Well I couldn't find a Rolodex that would ship here for a decent price so I'll just have to wait until I get back to the states. I thought about using my farmgirl planner (that a sweet farmgirl sister sent me for being FGOTM) but I'm not sure...I like the idea of everyone having a specific card. I guess I could add a page for everyone but that could get awfully full....hmmm. I'm thinking I may just use index cards and an index card box (which I'm sure I have laying around somewhere) until I find the rolodex or something along those lines. I do like the idea of using the planner though. I need to decide on something and start adding addresses!

I am still trying to recover from....everything. The trip wasn't kind to my body or energy level, the baby isn't sleeping well and trying to get him back on any semblance of a sleep schedule has been rough. We are getting there but still not great. Then this week we have some sort of illness going around so we are dealing with that! Guess that is just what this season is. Oh well, I'm hoping I can get back into my routines soon and I'm hoping to reduce a few outside commitments soon.
