Isn't this great to have a new Henhouse! Thank you, Erin! Thanks to the MJF site I feel like I know you already. I am a 68 yr.old gr-gramma to 3 1/2 babies, 6 g-kids and 2 kids. Married to my best friend 42 yrs. this coming Oct. I am relearning several crafts: sewing, crocheting, knitting. Love wild crafting. I raise herbs, some perennials, a few veggies. Love to can, and make jellies. Always willing to learn new things. Can't wait to start engaging with you all! Hi, Shannon!

I am so ecited to get to know everyone more intimately, in a smaller environment! This is going to be so lovely :) I've dreamed of being part of an active hen house! Looking forward to seeing what all we do! One of my dreams is the encouragement and accountability of working on badges "together." I have a hard time making time for myself to do the "fun stuff" with all the rest of life that needs to be done. So I am hoping this will be a way to get my bum in gear ;)

Hello, Kathleen! So, good to meet you in this hen house too! Soon I will share with you a couple of my "collections". I'm trying to downsize a bit. Also, I am our family historian (just beginning). That has been a real adventure in the last year!

Judith, what do you mean by historian? Genealogical research? Just wondering :)

I believe I am our "family historian" in that I am doing what I can to build a family tree for my birth siblings, my children and their spouses. We have had numerous adoptions in our families. No one kept really good records. I was able to find all of my siblings after a long search (as well as our parents). I have been able to trace our lines on both my parents, and the families of most of DH, children's in-laws and g-children's in-laws. Luckily, I have also been able to locate a number of photos and documents. My hope is to present each of my children and g-kids with a written history including those photos, documents and stories within the next couple of years. (Maybe for Christmas or birthdays) Some have expressed interest since none of us had a written history before.

Judith, I think that is awesome. I had it in mind to do sort of the same thing. Years ago I bought an 18 x 18 inch scrapbook with extra pages for this purpose. I was planning to draw out the family tree for me and my husband. I have collected old photos from both sides of my family. It's a project that I really want to do, and I never forget entirely about it. I keep coming back to it, but I think I might need to wait until my kids are a little older before I really start it. I know once I do, it will just be ALL that I do for a while. Especially because the Fort Wayne library (25 min away) has (I've heard) the best genealogical research center next to Salt Lake City. I can't imagine how hard that must be to trace adoptions. We have one that I know of (my father's grandmother) and I wouldn't even know where to start. I think that's so cool that you're doing that for your family.
