I needed to let you know that Tammy's Son Alex who is 26 was admitted to the hospital last night for a severe infection on his hand. He is resting comfortably and on pain meds, they do not know yet if he will need surgery. So, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as well as our Tammy and her family.
Also there is a wildfire very close to Tammy's house on Mt. Diablo, only 10% contained right now her home and others are not threatened.
So, Tammy and her family sure can use our virtual hugs right now.
I will keep you posted Chickees on how things are going as Tammy and I talk a few times a day, she is spending a lot of time at the hospital with Alex.
Thank you Chickees.
Hugs,
Debbie

Oh Tammy,
My thoughts and prayers are with your son and you and your family. We moms sure feel helpless when our loved ones are hurting and we can't fix it don't we. Hope they get that fire under control soon and you are not in danger. Please give farm girl
mama hugs to your son for me, with all of us praying and sending good vibes he should heal fast.

Hugs and love
Julie

I talked to Tammy a little bit ago, Alex is resting comfortably. Tammy is so tired but she is doing her Mama thing. She was home just a bit to see that Shea and Dave are taken care of then off to the hospital for an hour or so to spend with Alex. She will come home early tonight so she can rest. We will know more tomorrow, Alex has just been on his antibiotics 24 hours so it is too soon to tell yet the next course of treatment.
I of course will keep all of you posted.
I have passed on your hugs and good wishes to Tammy, Alex and her family.
All of you are awesome.
Hugs,
Debbie

Tammy, I am so sorry to hear about your son. I just finished a note to you telling you about my not so nice day, mine was nothing compared to what you are going through. Sending lots of love, hugs and especially prayers for you, Alex and your family.
Do they know what caused his infection? Praying the antibiotics are doing their healing in his hand.
Also praying that they will get the wildfire under control, and that your home will not be threatened.
Big hugs and many prayers

Tammy...so very sorry dear friend to hear about Alex. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in
and do their job. I hope they figure out what caused the infection. I know your mama heart is
hurting for your son. We always wish we could take their place and take their pain...cuz that
is just what mama's do.

Also, I got the Book in the mail today. Thanks so much!!! And loved the bookmark you stuck in
(postcard)of the ship. It did so remind me of us and our love for Titanic Reads. And you always
have such sweet notes. Thanks.

Huge Hugs and Prayers,
Peggy

Tammy is back at the hospital. Alex slept well last night and the pain meds are helping to keep his pain under control. They are waiting for his doctor and surgeon to see what the next step will be and if the antibiotics are helping.
Tammy said to thank you all for your hugs.
Will update as I get news.
Hugs,
Debbie

Thank you so much to you girls who have posted such kind thoughts. Alex is still in the hospital as of tonight and, hopefully, will be able to go home Thursday. However, he will be sent home on IV antibiotics for 10 more days (not sure how that works yet). What happened to him is a spider bite on his finger that became infected. The infection went into the skin, causing cellulitis of the hand. He is being treated with IV antibiotics (super potent) and Morphine and Percocet to control the pain. His hand is splinted, wrapped and elevated. The orthopedic surgeon is hoping to avoid surgery because of the proximity to the tendons and nerves in the hand. They are switching antibiotics today and hoping to see more significant improvement tomorrow, before they decide whether or not to operate. He is in good spirits, eating the massive amounts of food sent to him (he is a bartender at a very very good restaurant), joking with the nurses, etc.

Thank you Debbie for keeping everyone updated, and big hugs and lots of love to all of you who have posted and are keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.

Hugs, Tammy

To be on antibiotics even at home. But am so glad he is on the mend and they don't have to do surgery. Love to you my sweet sister. Marlee

Thank you Joan, Marlee and all you other sweet girls who have sent their prayers, hugs and thoughts to me, Alex and our family. I believe they have worked, because Alex is definitely improved today. The new antibiotic seems to be helping to do the trick. I was at the hospital today and we met with all four of his doctors. They do not think they will need to operate...WHEW! He is very ready to come home at this point, however, they need to install a PICC line so that he can have the IV antibiotics at home for 10 more days :/ Needless to say, he is not looking forward to that. They have taken him off the morphine and are just giving him Percocet orally which is also good. He must be feeling better because he actually asked his doctor if it was okay to work out with the PICC line....KIDS...oh my gosh! We are crossing our fingers that he will be discharged tomorrow...that is the plan at this point.

Love and Hugs to all of you,

Tammy

Hi Tammy, So happy to hear that Alex is doing better. Praying he does get to come home tomorrow. Are you taking good care of you? Caregivers need to be taken care of also. One Momma speaking to another Momma - and my girls are going to be 49 and 47 in October, but they are still my "girls".
Hugs and continued prayers,
Ruth

Thanks Ruth, you are so sweet. I am definitely very tired, but am hanging in there because that is what we do! I will just be glad when he gets home so I can rest. All that driving back and forth...yuck. Plus, he refuses to eat hospital food....LOL. The nurses were joking with me today how they have never seen a hospital meal on his table :/ And, yes, no matter how old they are they are still our kids!

Hugs, Tammy
