Thank you Peggy for the great idea for our December/Christmas Swap, the Chickees will have so much fun with this swap as well.

A little teaser for our December/Christmas Swap. Think Stockings! Hee Hee.

Sign ups for this swap will start in November, so put your thinking caps on and get ready. More later.

I Love Stockings too...they are my FAVORITE Part of Christmas!!!!

It's going to be FUN. And IF you see anything posted on other Forums about something similar...
Just remember...you can't always be guaranteed you will get anything...from a Swap Partner there.

BUT if we keep it in OUR HEN HOUSE...Your chances of getting a great Swap...go up 99%.

Love and Christmas Fun In Mind,
Peggy

Peggy, I have done the stuff a stocking swap for the last two years! In 2011 I had you for a partner which was only my second swap...LUCKY ME...that started me off with such a wonderful experience! In 2012 I had sweet Connie...YAY...LUCKY ME again! So I will only be doing this in the henhouse for certain. Henhouse partners are the best!

Terri, if any body can you can!! That is so exciting to learn to spin! My Aunt Judy got a Toy Spinning wheel for Christmas when I was about 8 years old and you used yarn and spools and it would like knit, but you had to turn the wheel to make the spool go round. I found one on Ebay and wanted to buy it for her cause we talk about that little spinning wheel all the time, when we reminisce about Christmas as a child. it went way out of my price range and sold for over $200.00. It cost about $5.00 in 1965!

oh yeah, some of those table top vintage wheels go for a pretty good price ... you can buy a used wheel cheaper ...
I lucked into my Ashford Traveler wheel for $100.00 the girl only wanted 25.00 but I just could NOT bring myself to rip her off ... I put another 50.00 into it and have a $500.00+ wheel.
I love the Ashfords ... but I am NOT a production spinner. I spin because I love it ...

Talking about spinning girls...I saw a gal (I almost went up and asked her if she knew about MJF)
walking around Barns and Noble with a Big Drop Spindle...just spinning away while she looked at
books etc. I was impressed! She did look like she was right off The Cover of a Mother Earth
News Magazine from back in the 60's and 70's. She had two leather pouches on belts buckled around her
waist. I'm assuming one had the wool in it and the other the yarn as she spun it off. And yes, they had
Mother Earth Magazine back then... for those of you younger than me. LOL

How did we go from Christmas Stockings to Spinning??? Oh yeah, somebody started it with a Burlap
Comment (Mama Hen) and off we go into the Wild Blue Yonder!!! Are we funny or what???

I will admit that all three years I had great Stocking Swap Partners...but we know it isn't ALWAYS LIKE THAT is it? That was
my only reason for commenting about keeping it where you are pretty
certain you will be getting a good Swap Partner. I was going to
beat Beth this year and Host it again in the regular Swaps...but then
I thought...NO, I will suggest it to Mama Hen and maybe we can
do it here....where all my FAVORITE CHICKIES ARE ANYWAY!!!

Hugs,
Peggy

Peggy, I'm so glad you did suggest that, because the only partners I would want are Henhouse girls anyway!

I would like to participate...are we handspinning stockings, or just handmade?
I've been teaching spinning for a lot of years, and have taught many people how to spin on wheel and spindle, even on your thighs. Fun, but easier to learn in person!

If we are handspinning stockings or even handmaking them, you would have to count me out....LOL
Sorry gals I don't sew, but Etsy has some really cute stockings :) All this talk of spinning is making me dizzy!

Jingle Bells, jingle Bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to see
Stockings on there way!

Hmmmm, Teri I was thinking burlap too, great minds do think alike. Peggy, so glad you suggested it to mama hen. I think this is where the trick or treat swap is headed next year. Much less controversy here. Rain, you and Teri have to start giving spinning lessons, I have been wanting to learn for years. Back to the kitchen and canner, making pickled beets, my whole house stinks.

Hugs girls,
Julie

well, Tammy ... I'm not really sure how to spin a stocking so you will have to count me out on that one too ... but I can spin yarn and knit one ...
Altho, I just started on my prototype stocking ... LOL ... pattern all made and I'm roughing it in now ...
Julie, Mine will have burlap touches ... me thinks ... building it in my head now.
I was going to do Elderberry jam today but the birds got most of it ... so I might have enough to make syrup for the cold season ...
Just have apple sause left to make and can a few whole Romas

oh wait I didn't read this whole thing you'll have to count me out unless buying one locally counts.
