Kathy: Thanks for the concern - it is very rewarding and besides my husband takes his nap at that time (LOL). There are some days I just can't do it because of my mom but other than that it does interfere with my badge work. That is why I haven't applied for many this month. Oh well - just can't do it all.
Love-

RUSTY . . . I, too, hope you don't wear yourself out!!! You are awesome!!!
TAMMY: Robin is supposed to be sending you "MONTROSE: LIFE IN A GARDEN" . . . . so hopefully you'll get that one soon.
LAURIE: I'm going to put "GARDENING WITH HEIRLOOMS" in the mail to you tomorrow . . .
ANYONE? . . .ready for "OMNIVORE'S DILEMMA"? It is required for intermediate level of "Know Your Food".
Have a great week chicks! CJ

Hubby and I both finished "The Soul of a Horse." It was a interesting book and didn't take as long to read as I expected. Who would like it next?

Finally I am ready to get started on my merit badges, I must read the guidelines and see where to start and how to submit the items I have made. Glad to see we can use things that we have made in the past. Not sure where I want to start but am sure I will figure it out.

Hi Debbie: You have the right attitude - just do things that you have completed in the past and/or would like to do now. Take your time and have fun.

Just a word of warning. The things you made in the past have to be ongoing projects at this time. For example: the shopping green badge requires you to switch to reusable bags. I did that years ago but I still use the bags so that qualifies. I submitted a sweater for the knitting badge and it was denied. Even though I still knit, the project was made in the past. Does that make sense?

If you made it in the last year, like the sweater they count. I had a quilt not count from three years ago, but something I did 6 months ok.

I'll be leaving for a couple of weeks and wonder if anyone wants "The Soul of a Horse" before then. I can hang on to it until someone wants it but after this Friday I won't be able to mail it until after Sept. 20 or so.

After seeing all the badges that people earned in the latest cluck email, I decided that I am way behind! You know since I haven't even earned one . LOL
So, I am going to post here to help motivate me to get started. Here are the two I chose to work on first: Families Forever (game night) Get It Together (storage containers)
I want to see my name in the next online issue |

Best of luck Laura. It's fun to earn badges. It's great to have some thing sot focus on and attempt. I've loved the reading so far too. Only one book that was just so-so. the rest have been rather eye opening.
p.s. the beginner horse badge is a fun one and pretty simple to complete.

Kathy: Good for you. You will find others that will inspire you also. I'm afraid Jim and I won't be able to make it to Albuquerque this month. My mom is not doing well - that is why I haven't applied for any more badges either. She is taking up a lot of our time. I will let you know when we can get away. Have fun with your badges.
Love-

All,
I sent CJ this message as, she "noticed" I hadn't "posted" anything on the forum.
Oh, that's so nice of you to "check" on me! I'm O.K.; I've just been very busy. I'm "chauffeuring" the boys to and from school everyday as well as their extra-curricular activities. The thing that put me "behind the power curve" was the fact our air conditioner broke the second day of school (mid-August). We lived in hotels and at my dad's until we could get it repaired. Because we opted to replace the entire system (inside and out) it took a week. Right after we returned to the house, classes resumed at Phoenix College. (I'm using my veteran's benefits to go back to college and get a degree in Fashion Design.) I've been behind ever since; however, that's not a good excuse for not keeping in touch with the chicks in the henhouse! I haven't forgotten about MaryJanesFarm. The raised vegetable bed is prepared and we're going to plant organic vegetable seeds this Sunday. Also, I'm working very hard to get my ensemble (traditionally tailored wool blazer and wool bias skirt) sewn for the Arizona Make It With Wool Competition. (My deadline [November 1, 2010] is rapidly approaching.) Lastly, I just returned from the market with ingredients for a Williams-Sonoma Apple-Blackberry Cobbler that I'm going to turn into a Fruit BakeOver. Thanks again CJ for "checking" on me. You're the best "Mother Hen!"
Sincerely,
Rali |
