Yay! more October birthdays, now I don't feel so lonesome. :)

Kathryn: went to your blog, enjoyed those wonderful pics, what a gorgeous place! We raised 3 boys and 2 girls on a farm and rural places,so feel lucky in that respect. We had goats, rabbits, chickens and a horse. Was heaven, miss all that now. Enjoy!

Am off to a new Wal mart that just opened here yesterday. The old one was ok, but now we have a Super one. Hope it has a clinic, would be nice.
ta ta for now...will let ya know what I find. :) xoxox

Peggy--October 8th. Our move in date is first or second week of December. We feel so blessed to have found that land. It is a creek at the back but there are places that are really deep (over a horses head deep). We found the land by cold-calling a few people about another piece of property and found this one. It was never on the market.

My parents living next door would be wonderful and my bff in England is trying to move on the same little country lane (we need to convince a neighbor to sell his acreage that he is no longer using).

Patsy--Yay another October baby! We hope to have chickens by next year so I will pick everyone's brain soon!

Kathryn, LOVE your place. I must admit to being a wee bit jealous. I was raised in the foothills of the Rockies and I love green, rivers, hills, forests, wildlife etc. Now I live in irrigated deserts. But God created a beauty in everything if we just look for it!!! Sometimes the looking takes some work. :) Hope your new home is a joy to all of you.

Janet, Congrats on your anniversary.

Patsy, glad to hear you are doing well, well maybe better is more accurate. Keep us updated on Jim.

Thank you to all of you for the kind words, support and emails. I know it probably sounds crazy but I feel very confident that I am where God wants me doing what God wants me to do. I can't say it's easy but I have divine peace and joy and confidence that God IS in control. Please keep praying. Dianne, your prayers have been felt. Thank you for never stopping. I don't know what's going to happen next but I know Who does and I just feel so confident that He has a plan and He's going to bring it all together. I'm making stands and setting my boundaries and even though it was scary to do I had immense peace while doing it and afterwards that I just know was from God. I beg you all not to despise my husband but rather pray for him. He is a man of many talents, skills, abilities and could be so much he just has to get past a few things that only God and his humble spirit can bring to pass. I want to lift him up not tear him down. My sharing of my trial was not meant to put him down in any way, Scripture calls me to respect him, I just so appreciate your support and prayers so much and I've gotten to a better place where I felt I could share it with you without bringing further harm. Thanks again to all. I covet your prayers!!

Wheww. On a lighter note I got my buck yesterday! I'm going to name him, What's Up! It's kind of funny because when I got him home my husband helped me unload him and the buckling was acting all cocky like he was going to head butt him and my husband said, "What's Up!" and did a gangster pose. It was so funny. And I thought, what a perfect name for a buck. They always have that little attitude going on. He has a pretty color. Kind of a strawberry roan. They said when he was born he was a solid red but now his body has a very light color to it. Really reminds me of a strawberry roan horse. This morning hubby and son went hunting and brought home a pheasant. So hubby was cleaning it when he called me to help because I'm the "expert" at butchering birds and there was NO chance he was getting his big hand in that little bird! Son is over the moon excited about getting the pheasant and so proud since his daddy saved some of the tail feathers and put them on his cowboy hat. Daughter and I had a fun morning of looking after the animals and then we had a tea party and watched a Tinkerbell movie. The guys actually got home before we started our movie and she started crying because she wanted to have our girl movie. I reassured her we would still have it but if the guys wanted to join us they would be welcome to. That made her happy again.

I was just thinking today how great it would be if some of our Porchies could come to call. I'd love to serve a tea party to some of you ladies and just enjoy the fellowship. HUGS

Howdy! Sounds like we are all having a busy week. Belated birthday to all our October farmgirls!

Wednesday night, Ric ended up in the ER. I was so scared, porchies; his vitals were all over the place and I honestly thought I was going to lose him. They didn't finish with the tests until after midnight.

Come to find out, his stomach lining is nearly destroyed. The doctor said it was the worst case of gastritis he had ever seen. Eek! So, bland foods and acid blockers indefinitely.

It sounds like we are all being tested lately, girls!

Thank you for all the welcome backs, it sure does feel good to be back on the porch! I missed you all so much...Hope all are enjoying a restful Sunday. It's dark, cloudy, rainy here, so very restful. :) Hope you all stay safe from Sandy, those who are within her reach.

Judy: Hope the gas prices are your price, (3.53 here right now), when we travel to Ohio 2 weeks from today...did I just say that? In 2 weeks I will be able to hug my sissy!!! can hardly wait. :):):)

Alyce: I agree on being tested. Glad the doc found out what was wrong with your hubby, the doc told my hubby we may never find out what triggered his troubles.

We really enjoyed our trip to the new Walmart. No clinic, but they also put in a mini mall nearby with Dollar Tree, a game store, an Asian restaurant that is a Chinese buffet and sushi place, not open yet, and a hair salon.

Feeling dozie here, might take a nap. hugs n squeezles to all :)

In a picture taking mood. Went outside to get a picture of my goats and sheep grazing. I find grazing animals so peaceful. Well apparently I've already trained them well to come to me because they caught sight of me and came at a dead run!!

Here's my new buck, What's Up!

My goat herd

Took pictures of my rabbits too!

Chocolate Kiss is my daughter's 4H bunny

Rabbity is my son's 4H bunny

Baby Ruth

Blue Belle

Snow White

Mongkut is my number one buck

Chocolate Chips my up and coming buck

Schokolade

My one and only flowerbed! The mums were a mothers day gift from my parents. I thought for sure it had died when I transplanted it but here it is blooming in the end of October!!!!

Great picture, Kim, love all the goats and the bunnies. All of my flowers are done and gone with all the hard frosts we have been having. The ground is starting to become frozen now. It is all white out in the morning with 15 and 19 degree temps the last 2 days. We are in for winds and possibly some snow tomorrow. I can't get out and finish raking the leaves.
Have a great evening,

Hi Porchies...

Kimberly love all your animal pictures!!! Such fun to have your farm family back...I am sure.

Loved your one flower bed. Very pretty for the end of October. I am impressed!

Well, today I felt half way human and actually got out of the house for awhile. My son from Seattle was
down for the weekend staying with a friend in Portland. We got together today for about an hour. He
brought me a beautiful Purple Orchid Plant and it had another Red Tropical Plant in with it. My two
favorite colors....together in one pot. Hopefully I won't kill them. I tend to over love tropicals.
And then I got two cute angel plant stickers from the girls. The angels actually resembled my two grand-
daughters...now they are peeking out from the plants at me! Madeline drew me a picture on the birthday
card of her an Naomi (cute little stick people) and wrote I Love You, Madeline on the card. She gets so
frustrated that in her four year old printing she can never get her whole name on one line...so she said,
to her dad, "I want a shorter name!" My son says, "What...you don't like your name Madeline?" She said, "Yes daddy, I still want to be Madeline, I just want it to be shorter!" I could just hear her saying that.

My youngest son is coming over tomorrow and bringing me my birthday gifts from him and Mercedies. I might have had to be sick on my birthday...but it's just made the Celebration last longer. I still want to wait on going out to dinner as food still makes my stomach feel yucky. And no, I am not pregnant! LOL

I also have an Exterminator coming in the morning. I keep finding these little tiny white worms on my
kitchen counters. It is grossing me out. It seems like every Apartment I move into...I have to deal
with ants, tree frogs, garter snakes, etc. I don't want my dog getting these worms. I just had him tested
for parasites...so, I could start him on the Flea, Worm and Heart Worm Treatment and he was clean for
parasites...so, I don't want him picking them up from the Apartment or Us getting them in our food.
Oh, I also have Fruit Flies back with a vengence. I kill them with Apple Cider Vinegar and Dish Soap in
a small bowl on The Counter...and had them licked for a couple of weeks. I guess I should be happy that
I don't have rodents or cockroaches. Things could always be worse. LOL

Well, I am off for my meds, my book and a few minutes to relax
before bed.

Praying for all of You being affected by Superstorm Sandy. The pictures don't look good!

blessings and Hugs,
peggy

Patsy, working unfortunately or fortunately however one wants to look at it.
Kim love the pictures.
Got a dusting of snow today. Slid very carefully the 40 miles into town. Interesting how one can play a pickup like a fish on a line. Went to Home Depot as soon as I hit town at 6am and got 4 bags of gravel that helped.
Praying for those on the east coast and the mid west. I hear that Chicago is expecting high waves from the Lakes. Major big time storm.

Kimberly, love the pics. Mongkut is my fav. Amazing that the flowers are going so well. We still have snapdragons&geraniums. They're hardy for us until the first snow.
We'', we survived the wind, though it was crazy. I slept downstairs With ear plugs, just so I could sleep. I could still hear it a little.
Peg, I just love the things little kids say and do. So sweet.
Don't ya just hate it when bugs move inside? Fall is the worst for that although I tend to forget that when I see all the pretty colors of the leaves.
Glad you are feeling better. Hope your taste buds come(home)soon. *giggle*
Cherime, loved the comment about "slid very carefully into town," hahaha Well said! You have a Home Depot that's open at 6 AM? WOW!
We painted an upstairs room today. Only one more room left to do....until after all the Thanksgiving company is gone. Can't think of that now. Can't wait to see everyone....not gonna think about the "empty nest" afterward just yet! hahaha
I checked on one of my Farmgirl friends from N.H. and they came through the storm ok,although some of her neighbors didn't.

Cherime....Oh how I hate to think about the icy roads, just hate you have to deal with them already. We have been getting cooler temps., but know snow in southern NE.

Peggy....so glad you are feeling better now. Also Happy belated Birthday and wishing you many more. Your boys are so sweet getting you gifts, they are so thoughtful.

Oh how I hope everyone on the east coast is doing ok. It looks so so bad out that way. Has anyone heard from any of our farm sisters on the east coast?? I guess it may be awhile before we do with so many people without electricity. Keeping them all in my prayers.

Well tomorrow I have to can my last round of tomatoes. Just amazing what we got of the tomato plants after we had a couple of freezes. You would have thought they would have be killed off. I got 11 1/2 quarts the other day so it looks to be about 6 more quart. I have never canned fresh produce this late in the year. So I guess we will have a lot of chili and hambugar soup anyway.

Got to go for now, you all take care!

Evening Porchies,
Im still here with all of you . I promise I will get caught up real soon. As Im not suppose to spend much time on here Im to be resting. I have hda a very long week as I was given a bad steriod shot and had to be tested for menegetis(spelling?) Well didn't test positive but stilled treat me as I had a virus but dr. say no menegetis. I told the dr. as you know I have a stange way of reacting to meds and virus so that is why they treated me. As well as they saw something strange in my blood work.I feel ok but am tried and sleepy. Which is what my body wants 2 do 24/7 is sleep. So they are keeping a very close eye on me. One step at a time. I will check in tomorrow . Hope all is well with each of you and I'll be praying.

Hi everyone. I'm still lurking about. Not much to post about. I just wake up, go to school, sleep and do homework and all necessities in between.

Thinking about all our farmgirls back east. Truthfully, I worry the most about all the homeless. I hope they all found shelter.

Drat Ruthie!! Praying for you dear.
Netty, Judy, I sure would like to sit this winter out but I have to drive in to work for the next 2 months. Could be interesting. there are a couple of very steep hills between Wasilla and Anchorage. I had to be very very careful that I gently gave it enough gas to get up the hill and I actually had the back end break loose a couple of times. But did not get out of my lane and it is sure amazing how some of the ding bats on the road dropped back when the rear end wiggled a bit. Some of them however came so close to causing accidents that it was not funny.
Peg, EUUUUH! Worms! What fun. Too bad you don't have a pet Myna bird, it would take care of that problem post haste.
Did anyone see the picture that Yahoo had of a shark swimming down a street in a town in New Jersey? Very strange. That storm is messing with so many people in so many places. How horrible for those affected.
Well night all. Off to bed. Cold and windy here tonight a turn the electric mattress pad up to 2 night. Blessings all.

Evening Girls...

Wow...I can hardly complain about our terrible rainy weather in comparison to the East Coast. My goodness...PRAYER ALERT!!! I can't believe the devestation of that Storm. I keep watching all the coverage on TV and I just can't even imagine going into the Holidays facing all that. Other than the fact that their blessings will be in coming through that storm alive. This is another opportunity for our Nation to rise to the Needs of Our Own.

Bunny...I didn't even think of the homeless...your comment really snapped my head around twice on my shoulders. I pray that they sought shelters and higher ground. Wow...how un-atuned we can be sometimes. That one just went over my head...I'm ashamed to say.

Cherime...they said on the 11:00 news tonight that the shark picture was phonied up and the one of the Statue of Liberty was from another storm completely and phonied up. As if the pictures need to be sensationalized right?? They are horrific as they are coming to us via the airwaves.
Glad you were careful sliding into work today. 40 miles is quite a long way to drive on slippery roads. You becareful girl. I am glad that you got the bags of sand.

Patsy...looks like you beat a few of our lurking sisters out of the brush today. LOL Busy Time of Year and going to be picking up speed too, from here on out.

Ruthie Ann...Oh, I pray to God you do not come down with Meningitis. I am so glad they are watching you like a hawk. But I will put my trust in Jesus...on your behalf. Sleep as much as you can girl. As my Dr. says...it is your bodies was of seeking "Restorative Health" for you.
Wow...such troublesome times for people with all this medical stuff going around and the storm and everything. Elections and all that big mess (which we won't talk about right girls?) Just pray, pray, pray! That is the answers for all problems....that we deal with on a daily basis. Amen? Amen!

Netty...I do feel so much better the last few days. I am taking one more night of coedine cough syrup and then I am going to try to fly solo without it tomorrow night and see how I do.

My kids do spoil me on my birthday and my husband really did too this year. My youngest son brought me the coolest chandelier today. It is more for looks than actual usage (uses candles rather than light bulbs). Haven't decided yet if it is going in the Living room or my bedroom. It is purple, red and orange (very colorful) but I am afraid that the pop of orange maybe too much for in the living room. I can probably pull it off better in my bedroom. But we will see. I need someone to hold it up in both places so, I can eyeball it from a distance before I make up my mind.
I will post a picture when I get it hung up.

Judy...one nice thing about having out of town company (even family) is it causes us to spruce things up a bit better doesn't it? For that fact, (for me personally)...I think company is a good thing. LOL
Keeps me on my toes. My husband thinks I'm the "Queen of Clean" already. LOl I think he is a loveable slob. I threatened this week to go into his bedroom/office and take pictures and post them on Youtube. Trying to shame him into cleaning up after himself. Ha! Had no affect what so ever!
Well, you can't blame a girl for threatening can you? (+:

Alyce...you need to come sit down for a real chat...put your feet up and stay for awhile.

Well girls...the worms were meal worms. Food born parasites. BUT the weird thing was that the extermenator said that they feed and then climb higher. And the side of the kitchen I was having problems with them there was only one cupboard with food stored on one shelf.
Like bags of rice, noodles, crackers etc. But the shelf was high. So, he didn't think it was from my food though I told him I would throw it all out anyway...because now I was grossed-out. He asked me how long I had been in this Apt. which I told him just over 3 months. He says, well they may have had a mouse problem at one time and before they got rid of them...they nested like back behind your lower cupboards and the worms are coming from there. He said they were unusually small and under nourished (Praise God). Anyway he sprayed some very finely cu-tglass in the lower cupboards, behind and under the stove. They get the glass on them and it cuts them up.
He proceeded to tell me that when people get parasites that you go to the health food store and get the same cut-glass mixture and mix it in liquid and injest it to get rid of human parasites. Yuck!!!! More Information than I wanted to know, thank you very much. Aren't you glad that I shared it with you, my sista's? LOL
I did find it interesting that it comes in dog food a lot because bags of dog food are stored so long in warehouses etc....but that dogs do not pick up that particular parasite.
We can though! Double Yuck!!!!

OK, now that I have thoroughly grossed you out too....(misery loves company)...I'm off to read and get my mind off creepy things that I never want in my kitchen ever again.

Nightie Night My Lovelies....

I survived Halloween and passing out candy at the door. It was cold and windy. I felt sorry for the little ones.We get alot of teenagers, but I don't mind. That means they arestaying out of trouble! LOL!!! It only got to 32 degrees today and windy. We had high winds yesterday and today from Sandy. Yesterday the waves in the lake were 20 feet. Snow just north of us, 3 1/2 inches, so not too much longer when we will see some on the ground.
Yesterday I got brave and cut my hair. It was in the middle of my back, cut off about 18 inches. Now it is short and curly. I have natural curly hair, so it curled right up once the weight was gone. I cut my own hair most of the time because I can do just as good as the beauty shops that I have gone to, and my hair grows so fast, it need trimming evry 3 weeks. It only took 2 years to grow what I had. I also have thick hair, even short it takes a good 3-4 hours to dry.
Hope you all had a good Halloween. I made sugar cookies, pumpkins with orange frosting and sugar, so dig right in and pour yourself a cup of tea, or coffee to go with them.
Have a great evening,
Jan

Hello My Porchies....
We don't do the Trick or Treat thing anymore...passing candy out I mean. It went by the way side
after the whole empty nest thing. Can't wait to see pictures of my granddaughters tonight. They usually
go trick or treating in Seattle. My son said that since Madeline had 2 cavities...they were going to
let her have a little candy tonight and then they were going to buy the rest and donate it somewhere.
Chris said to Madeline, "How much $ do you think you should get for your candy?" She popped right off with,
$20.00. My son thought that was too much...I said, "Ha, just try taking my candy for anyless!" LOL She is one smart little cookie for 4 yrs. old. But I agree with my son...kids get way too much candy these days.
It's not good for them.

Janet...glad you made it through all your trick or treaters. Today when I was at Barnes and Noble they had a Special Kids day...they came dressed in costumes and they got a Story and Treats. They were so cute...I just had to take some pictures of them.

Well, another quiet day on The Porch. Thanks for the cookies Janet! I guess you and I are the only ones
who got some. That's what they get for running wild on Halloween...and not checking in on The Porch. LOL

Night Sweet Friend!

Queen Esther, Centurian Cornelius, Angel Supreme

We had a great day. I personally despise halloween but I've got nothing against my kids wearing cute costumes and getting "some" free candy that will later be very slowly doled out. Then I found out that the town had a trick or treat by the businesses in town from 3-5pm and they even have crossing guards at all the roads!! So my children went on a very safe trick or treat in the middle of the day! Love it! Then of course it was off to tumbling class which they always enjoy and then we grabbed a quick meal at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants and off to AWANAS. My children were pretty excited because my daughter got her vest and first patch and my son got his second set of wings and first jewel in it. I loved watching my daughter's expressions. And how excited and happy she was for her brother when he got his. She was patting his back and telling him how well he did.

Hope you all had a safe and fun evening too.

Cherime, I so completely get the sliding carefully into town thing. Spent my whole life doing that. The fun stuff is when you get freezing rain and everyone and everything is in the ditch every which way but loose and you have to navigate through it all!!! Just remember everyone has forgotten how to drive through the summer and take extra care of yourself. :)

Excuse the mess & the noise, my children are making happy memories

Kimberly, nice picture!!!! Glad you and your children had a good time. I am glad it only comes once a year, but it is always so cold when they go trick or treating here. It should be in August or September!! LOL!!!

Good Morning from Idaho
I survived Elk Camp! LOL I had a great time till Monday. I really do not like Mondays. I decided that I would drive the motor home we barrowed from my SIL, home early while the guys stayed out a little longer hunting. Big Mistake!!! My DH told me to get gas in the first town because he was not sure of the milage. I got in and started driving. I looked at the gas gage. Half a tank. No problem I can make in easy to the first town. NOT!!! The gas gage does not work. I ran out of gas about 10 miles from the first town. So here I am on the side of the road with this old Winnabego pulled off as far as I can. Trying to get a call out. Of course none of my children are answering their phones. (I was not a happy mama). I finally get a hold of a friend to bring me gas. Of course she is about an hour away. So I am on the side of the road praying that no one hits the old motorhome and that Jennifer my friend gets there quick. My DH pulls up about 45 minutes later and says ran out of gas? You Think! I told him Jennifer was on her way. She pulled up about then. MY DH said he had a bad feeling while he was hunting and decided to come look for me. I think they were just tired of being rained on. The weekend was great, but Monday was, well, a Monday. LOL

Patsy I am so glad Jim is better. Still praying for both of you. And yes I agree Peggy can not go home yet. We need her.

Peggy and Kathryn Happy birthday. Ok I know it is November now, so I am way late. Kathryn I hope your birthday was awesome and Peggy I hope yours is awesome as well. When you fell up to celabrating.

Kimberly I have included your family in my prayers, but I will be a little more spacific. I will lift you DH to God and pray for him.
I just looked up Prosser WA. It is about 253 mile from where I live. Will have to look into a road trip. Probably not till spring. I will be in Pasco in April for an Alpaca show.

Alyce how scary for you. Praise God your DH is ok. Maybe not completly healthy but he will live. I hate going to the ER.

Kimberly love all your pictures. You have a beautiful place. I am a wee bit jealous of your place. One day we will have our own place.

Ruth Ann I hope you get to feeling better soon. A bad shot. How aweful!

Peggy I will join you on the ashamed seat. I did not think about the homeless either. It is sad that we get caught up in our lives and forget what others are going through.

Kimberly you all look so cute. I am glad your town does the business trick or treat. Ours does too as well as a lot of Churches have trunk or treat or harvest festivals. Much more fun. We did hand out candy this year again. Not as manny this year as last year. Way too cold.

I best get back to work. Students are coming in for help.

Kim great costumes.
Jan, Its pretty cold up here at Halloween. Usually we have a fright night place or two and the businesses take up the slack for candy giveaways.
Diane, scary deal, no fun running out of gas at all especially in a large vehicle on a narrow road.
Getting ready for the bazaar on Sat. Hope this one goes better than the last one.
Blessings all.

Good Evening Girls...

Cherime...hope your Bazaar goes well. I would like to think that they can't all be bad for you. BUT I have done many Bazaars myself years ago. I never felt like I even broke even most of the time. But I would use what I had left for Christmas gifts.
I think people that stick to one particular thing and do it well, like CJ with her Farmgirl aprons...probably are more successful than people like me...who always had a little bit of everything. That is kind of how I craft. I do what ever strikes my fancy and move on to something new.

Dianne...I hate having vehicle problems. I would not have been a happy camper/hunter running out of gas. Especially because I am the type who NEVER lets her tank get below 1/4 of a tank left...before I am going to fill up. My husband has got us stranded more times than I can count because we have run out of gas.
You can be going on fumes and my husband will say, "Oh, you can go for miles yet." I never trust his wisdom on things like that...from Past experiences. LOL
I am glad that your hubby decided to come and check on you. Smart Man!

I did finally have a really nice birthday. Still have a dinner out to collect on...maybe this weekend.

I am feeling much improved. Was able to go teach my Bible Study tonight. It was so good to be with all the gals after having had to miss last week.

Janet...I agree with you...Kimberly and kids look so cute all dressed up for Trick or Treating. We had
some kids knock on our door last night even though we weren't passing out candy. In our apartment complex...if you wish to have kids come to your door, you just hang an Orange Pumpkin on the door. Well, my neighbor nor us...hung the pumpkins but the kids still came anyway. With my fibro...it is too hard getting up and down etc...so, I just don't do it. My neighbor has the same thing and she feels the same way.

Kimberly...it is great that so many Churches and Businesses do "Safe Trick or Treating" for the Community.
When I managed a store at our Mall we use to do that too. The entire Mall...all Merchants participated. But it was always so packed out with kids. Fun Though!
I always loved it. Even being a Christian Bookstore...I would hand out one piece of candy and a Gospel Tract. I had one Father come up to me and just go on a rant about how wrong he thought it was for a Christian Bookstore to Participate in the Halloween Event. I said, "Well, I appreciate you voicing your opinion but I will use every opportunity to get The Gospel Out...that I can." After he saw what I was giving out and heard my opinion about it...he backed-down.

Well, I guess I am ready for my book and bed. Seems like this has been a week long day.

Hey, can you believe we are almost at 600 pages of Posts. Woot! Woot!

Love and Hugs,
Peggy

It has been so quiet here on the porch, must be getting too cold to sit out on it. Hope all are okay and just too busy right now. It is late, so this will be short. I am watching Sophie's Choice right now, never did see it. It is good, but it is getting late and I am tired. I hope I can stay up for another 40 minutes to see the end.
Peggy, yes, we are almost to page 600!!!! Lots of chatty gals, hope they all make it back soon. I miss hearing about everyone's lives.
Have a wonderful evening,
