When my mother married an American we came to the States three years later, I became an American citizen.
But I cherish my roots and my families on both sides of the big Pond.

Hi Grace, I was born in Germany too! my dad was in the US army and meet my mom while stationed over there. I was just looking up German Easter cake recipes, sadly my mom has passed and she was an only child.

Sheila, my mutti would each Easter make a Braided Stollen... unfortunately, I do not have her recipe,,
It was sort of a sweet egg bread with raisins inside and slivered almonds on top and an egg wash before baking.

Grace, I do remember having that, my mom did not like to bake but my Oma did. I do not have her recipes. But there is a gal I met that sells Austrian baked goods at one of the local farmers market and man are they delicious! I kick myself for not placing an order in time for our Spring Brunch.

VTOma,, I hear ya! I only wish I could find someone around here that does traditional Euro baking. Not the high priced frofro cookies and cupcakes!
The only German Deli-shop in Spokane is closing down May 1st so she is not doing any more specialty baking.. Bummer...

What cute towels. I am a tea lover so that one caught my eye! I have not had a chance this year to do any yet as life has been busy with extended family things.
I am however preparing to get some towels done when things slow a bit.
