Traditionary the Dog Days of Summer are connected to the dawn rising of Sirus the dog star.

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac the forty days of the Dog Days of Summer start July 3 and ends on Aug 11. The forty days are said to be the hottest, drought ridden, humid, and I will add the most miserable days of summer.

It's starting to look like the old farmer was right -- the next 10 days here are predicted to be 102 to 113.

It kinda started earlier here. So hot, so humid, even the breeze feels extremely warm. Only your sweet and the breeze will even cool ya a bit.

Today is the 1st day of August and there is only 10 more days to go until the Dog Days of Summer ends. It will still be hotter than blazes but it will also be that much closer to the coming of fall and a cooling on the earth. I am so ready for that cool down.

Yep - 100 degree temps are coming back to Texas, too. UGH! Hot and humid.

This week will definitely qualify as the dog days of summer here.

We are enjoying a nice return to the 90s after a brutal three weeks of 100+. This week will be 98-101; much better than 115 for sure. Looking forward to fall.

Holy moly, its been dog days here in south alabama for the last 5 weeks! I've only been outside for 2 hours today and am sopping wet like I've been rained on. Heat advisory of possible 110. I think we've hit it. I'm so over this summer. Come on fall!!

Definitely dog days over here in Florida ! And that includes a lot of drama like the Tropical Storm Debbie working its way up the west coast of Florida and then cutting across the state about where I live. Prior to this storm it has been miserably hot and humid every single day with afternoon showers only to make everything even more humid when the sun comes back out. Anybody seen Fall resting up way north for the long drop down to the US and especially way down here in the deep South??
