For the last couple of weeks, I have been experiencing a nasty cold that keeps hanging on but am feeling some better. I got caught flat footed without any of my "TV" dinners in the freezer. So, for the last several days I have restocked my freezer. Six baked pasta with broccoli dinners; 3 roast with cream potatoes and English peas; 3 steak & sugar snap pea soup.

Next on the list to freeze is porkchop HoBo suppers.

I hope your cold goes away soon. Our freezer is full of game but I try to keep some chicken soup there for emergencies. I like to put leftovers in the freezer for quick meals. DH says he doesn't like leftovers but if I bring them out a couple weeks later it's ok. Men are funny.

Judith, I'm a little bit like your DH that I don't care for leftovers like I used to. If the soup or pasta is really good, I may go another day or two of it but if I freeze it, it is no longer leftover it is food from the freezer. I only have a fridge freezer so I can't stock as much as I would like. Your freezer full of game sounds great.

Krista, freezer meals would come in handy this summer when you are in the garden.

I agree Sara! It always seems like the cows need to be fed and the garden needs taken care of at the same time I need to make dinner. Freezer meals can help with that.

Sara, good ideas to have on hand. Just taking the time to make them, is what I need to do. I do make pizza kits up, which are really nice to have. Make your pizza crust, and par bake at 425/450 for 5 min or so. Then I put in the freezer on cookie sheets till froze, then bag the crusts up. I also did individual baggies of sausage, and pepperoni and cheese. Easy to grab and make. I do 6-8 crusts at a time. I have canned pizza sauce. This year I want to can in smaller jars for pizza. I have cooked roasts and if your careful slicing them against the grain, it makes great sandwich meat or whatever. ( we have our own beef)

Michelle, your pizza kits sound great. I use the toaster size Naan flatbread to make my pizzas that I freeze with wax paper between them. I could bag up the toppings and freeze. Sometimes when I want to make a pizza all I can find for toppings is jarred artichokes but no cheese. I use store canned tomatoes for my sauce with my home dried oregano.

Michele, I like the pizza idea. I know that would be a big hit in my home.

Sara, I hope that nasty cold is vanishing and you are feeling much better. I love your idea of homemade frozen TV dinners to just pull out for a delicious and healthy option. Great idea!

Thanks Winnie, the cold is gone except for the occasional sneeze & cough.

Today I made 14 sliders for the freezer. Easy to do: cut hot dog buns in half; put ketchup and mustard on each side of bun; add sauteed seasoned ground beef; and put sides together. Fast freeze on a parchment paper lined tray and stow in freezer zip lock bags. I like to heat them up the oven, makes for a quick lunch or afternoon snack.

I had a quart of pizza sauce left over from yesterday's canning. This morning, I made baked pasta with mushrooms using the pizza sauce. I did thin the thick sauce with a cup of water. I had a serving for lunch and liked the pizza sauce. The baked pasta will cool in the fridge overnight and tomorrow I will make more TV dinners. I have cooked broccoli in the freezer so I will add that to the dinners.
