Here are just SOME of my buttons - new and old. Many are from my mother's button cannister, and some of those were from her mother. I am putting together my "Buttoned Up" merit badge now - all three levels.
The largest of my button boxes
Carded buttons from the 50s and later
Shaped buttons - wooden, ceramic, plastic

Themed buttons - Christmas, patriotic and other
Jars of buttons - holiday colors and vintage in an old jar with metal lid
Funny - I rotated these before posting but they didn't post correctly. I tried again, and they were the same. Oh, well! GRR!

There buttons were carved from India elephant tusks and purchased by my husband's uncle when he was in Korea during the Korean war. He brought them home and gave them to my hubby's mother. And now I have them.

Sorry I have not been on in a while; life and my aging teeth got in the way, LOL. Karen I really enjoyed reading this article, I always wondered how to tell what kind of buttons I had, thanks for the share. I see jars full of buttons for sale at thrift stores and yard sales but they always seem to be priced high. What is a average price for a jar of buttons? Now that yard sale season will soon be upon us.

I have made a mixed media art work picture using buttons of a couple getting married. I found out I can take a picture of it with my iPod touch and email but I do not know how to send it to this site.
