It's been in the 80s in my part of Texas which is un-heard of for the last of Aug, so I have been cooking like it's already Fall. Yesterday I made potato, kale, leek, sausage in beef broth soup. Oh my, was it good. You know the "standing at the stove eating out of the pot good". If I have them on hand, I like to add a small white bean such as a great northern or baby lima.
What's your favorite soup?

I like potato leek and recently, cream of cabbage. I have so much garden cabbage. I too love soup and could eat it several times a week.

Very easy, I use either vegetable or chicken stock. I saute onion (I use a lot since I like onion) and celery. I add the onion, celery, some chopped carrots and shredded cabbage to the stock, simmer until veggies are soft. I add cream or evaporated milk, heat, then take a few cups out and blend and return to the pot, this helps thicken, or you can thicken with a corn starch and water slurry.

Thanks, I'll try it when cabbage is good in the stores again. Lately it has been old, dry, and just bad.

my vote would be for chicken and dumpling. I really struggle with making a good soup though.

Michelle, my favorite way to eat chicken & dumplings is to just pig out on the dumplings and leave the chicken for someone else to enjoy.

Willy Strange's Good Soup
2 cans Campbell's Minestrone Soup 1 can Ranch Style Beans 1 can Rotel diced Tomatoes (mild or hot) 2 cans water (soup can size) 1/4 cup Catsup 1 lb. hamburger 1 small onion (diced)
Saute the diced onion in a dutch oven. Add the hamburger and brown. Drain off the excess fat. Add the remaining ingredients, heat and serve.
I just want to add that the beans really need to be this kind. Other beans change the taste

Thanks Theresa, I know I will like it already because anything with Ranch Style Beans has to be good. They're a staple in my pantry. I can a lot of dried beans and have even tried to find a recipe that tastes like RSB but never been able to copy that flavor. I put them in chicken taco soup and my sister puts them on top of steak. I haven't tried that yet, but she says it's so good.

Cream of potato and ham soup. It tends to add a few pounds real quick.

Ohh, Sara, that soup you were making makes my mouth water! I love soup and as soon as the heat and humidity lift here, I will be looking forward to making soups again. Right now it is insanely hot and humid every day. Plus we get drowned in thunderstorms every afternoon. Nothing dries out right now. One of my favorite fall soups is white chili. We both love it! I also love homemade turkey soup with the left over carcass from Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Winnie, I feel you! The weather has been the same here, miserable! I'm looking forward to soup weather! My favorite is tortilla but the Willy Strange soup sound yummy, turkey burger instead of hamburger for me! Gotta try it for sure! Nice to see this forum for some yummy ideas!

Hot & humid in my neck of the woods too. Not much rain this summer. Some trees are brown already and the grass is mostly dead. My favorite soup is beef, barley and lentil. Sounds weird but it's really good and an easy crock pot recipe. I also like split pea & ham.

My favorite soup is loaded baked potato soup. I actually just made it last night. It’s a family favorite. We even eat it during the summer months.

How could I choose just one favourite soup?? I love soup at any time of year, but especially now that the autumn/winter months are approaching. One of my Mum's "go-to" soup recipes was for a delicious "Cauliflower & Bacon Soup". I will definitely be digging that one out very soon.

I can't pick a favorite either. Minestrone, split pea or lima bean with ham, potato-broccoli-cheese, Turkish lentil, chicken soup w/matzo balls, barley soup made with the leftovers from Christmas prime rib -- too many to choose from.

Today I'm making ground beef soup with 93/7 organic grass-fed beef, potatoes, carrots, leeks, and diced tomatoes.

We're having beef barley soup tonight. Last night's steak was a bit too tough so we are recycling it.

Well, it's that time of year again to be making delicious warm soups. I have a Beef & Lentil Minestrone in the slow-cooker today. It's so easy to throw everything in the slow-cooker first thing in the morning, let the smells fill the kitchen all day, then in by evening... dinner is done!!

Cindy, your soup sounds delicious and so easy in the slow cooker.
Yesterday I made chuck wagon vegetable soup. Years ago, a steak house in Sherman, TX made this soup. It's any vegetable soup recipe with either homemade or can chili. I used two cans of Wolf Brand Chili with beans.
