I finally made my first ever pumpkin roll this week! I was always a little intimidated by the process and kept putting it off. I am so glad I finally tried it. My only issue was that I about dropped it when I was trying to flip it over onto the towel lol! It turned out so yummy. The kids have already devoured the whole thing and want me to make another.

It was a little sticky on top. Is there something I can do to fix that?

That looks delicious!!! Maybe try a dusting of powdered sugar? Not sure if it will work or not but that's what I would try.

Whenever I make a pumpkin roll, I flip it from the cookie sheet onto a lightweight tea towel and then roll it up with the towel while it's still hot. After it cools, I gently unroll it, remove the towel, and then coat it with my cream cheese concoction and then roll it back up. Sometimes it cracks a tad, but it does stay together enough to be rolled back up. And it's never been tacky/sticky. If that's what you did, then I'm out of ideas:)

Looks absolutely terrific Krista!! I make them a lit during the November season too! I've already made 3 loaves of pumpkin bread! I agree with both Heather and MaryJane! I've only had mine crack occasionally but no stickiness! What a treat tho!! Congratulations!!

I sprinkle my towel with powdered sugar when rolling it up and then after it doesn't stick.

Thank you all for your sweet comments! For this one I rolled it up into a towel that was dusted with powdered sugar. I tried making another one yesterday and this one did crack a little, but I put down more powdered sugar on the towel this time just in case there wasn't enough last time and it was still sticky. So here is my other question. How do you store it in the fridge? This recipe says in cling wrap but I think that is what's making it sticky. Or am I using too much powdered sugar on the towel?

Yes Debbie. I found this one on Pinterest. Let me get the link.

Debbie, here is the link
https://life-in-the-lofthouse.com/pumpkin-rolls/

Her recipe says to wrap up in the parchment paper but I decided to use a towel instead.

Thank you.

Grace, it's not me you have to worry about lol! We need to convince the kids to share!! The second one is already gone too. The best part about making my own now is that I can make one at any time of the year. Not just fall.

It's been so long since I made one that I don't remember what I used to store it in the fridge. I've also made a chocolate cake one instead of pumpkin if you want to try something different.

I will have to look into that Heather. I never really had a desire to make a chocolate cake one. But I bet if it's the right kind of chocolate it would be great!
