Hey Ladies-
I need your help-
I am trying to put together a homemade cookbook since I love to host dinner parties.
Do any of you have some great recipes for appetizers?
Perhaps we can do an exchange? If anyone was interested you could email me recipes and then I could put them into a printable format and then re-email the compiled list. Perhaps we could do one recipe a month and each month a new recipe category?
Any thoughts/comments/participants?
Alee

I am pretty simple with appetizers: cheese, hummus, crackers, veggies. Sometimes I do a layered Taco Dip: Layered by : reforied beans, ground meat with taco seaoning, cheese, sour cream , guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes and black olives.

one of my favorite appetizers are the mini reubens, easy & good. Also I like scallops wrapped in bacon, italian bread brushed w/ olive oil, mozz. cheese, tomato & freah basil then put in broiler for a few minutes. Another great one is sub salad served w/ crusty bread. You make up a salad that uses typical sub food (meats, cheeses etc.) then mix mayo, olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, & italian seasonings. Pour it over the sub mixture w/ lett. tom. onions etc. mix and CHOP it up WELL. then serve it w/ different crusty breads. Depending what your having I also like big fat jersey tom. stuffed w/ tuna. Theres a million appitizers. Mini quiches are good also.

Here's one for Boneless Chicken Wing Dip...
8 oz Cream Cheese Franks Red Hot Sauce - 5 oz (or to taste) 1 Jar Maries Blue Cheese Dressing 8 oz Shredded Mozzarella Cheese 3 Boneless Chicken Breast (cooked and shredded)
1. Spread Cream Cheese in a pie plate (or similar dish). Mix Franks Red Hot Sauce, Blue Cheese Dressing and Chicken in a separate bowl. Layer over Cream Cheese and top with Mozzarella Cheese.
2. Bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees.
Great for casual affairs! And here is a slightly more upscale one that is delicious"
Cukes with a Kick
1 cucumber 4 tablespoons cream cheese 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped 3 tablespoons horseradish, red, preferably pinch salt black pepper, freshly ground 10 slices thin white bread, cut in half
Peel the cucumber and slice it as thin as possible. Mash the cream cheese, dill, horseradish, salt and pepper together in a small bowl until well blended. Spread the bread slices with the cream cheese mixture. Then top with a cucumber slice and garnish with a dab of horseradish.

We really enjoy this appetizer. I usually mix in a 10 oz. package of frozen chopped spinach, thawed.
Delicious Artichoke Dip
1/2 cup mayonnaise 1/2 cup sour cream 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 (14 ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained 1/2 cup minced red onion 1 tablespoon lemon juice salt and pepper to taste
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). 2. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, stir together mayonnaise, sour cream, Parmesan cheese and onion. When these ingredients are combined, mix in artichoke hearts, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Transfer mixture to a shallow baking dish. 3. Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 20 minutes, or until light brown on top.
I serve with tortilla chips.
Enjoy! |

Kelly.. I make almost the same thing for Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip.
2 pkg. cream cheese 5oz Franks hot sauce 1/2C chopped celery 1C ranch dressing 2 large cans chicken breast 1 1/2 shredded cheddar.
Cook cream cheese with Franks & celery on low until cream cheese melted. remove from heat. Add ranch dressing & chicken. Pour into greased dish. ( I use 9x13 but you could use smaller) Sprinkle with cheese & bake 15-20 or cheese melts & is bubbly in 350 oven. Serve with tortilla chips or crackers. You can eat it hot or cold.
My sisters family also likes to dip tamales in it. My FIL made a sandwich out of it, but I'm not sure I would do that!
So yummy!!

I will get an email set up just for recipes. I will try to have that info posted later this afternoon.
I have to make a run to Costco... I might have to pick up some ingredients to try some of these recipes. :) Thanks for all your ideas so far ladies! I am really excited to get this print-your-own recipe book put together.

I have another recipe that one of my SIL's gave me.
1 pkg. croissant in can block of favorite cheese pepperoni
Open can of croissants. Peel one off & cut in 1/2 stretch out w/o tearing. Place a piece of cheese & a piece of pepperoni on it. Fold dough over filling.
Place on ungreased baking sheet. Cook on 350 until browned. You can dip them in spaghetti sauce or eat them as is. The cheese & oil will ooze out of the dough a little, but once it cools, it is easy to clean. Watch the bottoms if you have a dark pan. They cook quickly. If it's dark, you may want to put foil down. Then it's even easier clean up!
We always make this for New Years! A family favorite.
