I am starting to make bagels from scratch and all the recipes call for the boiling water to have barley malt extract or non-diastatic malt powder added to it. I made a batch of cinnamon raisin bagels and they were good but missing something-obviously that malt to the water. I have checked Walmart food section, Krogers grocery store, and the commissary none of these places had it that I could find and every person I asked looked at me as if I was speaking in tongues. Can any of you ladies help me out with where to look? Thanks!!

What about a store that has beer making supplies? There are a lot of businesses now that cater to "hobby brewmakers" and carry all the grains necessary. Our "Party Store" in the area has a section with ALL that stuff. A lot of it in bulk. That's the only place I've seen it that I can say.

The King Arthur Flour catalog and website should have it too.
