Hi all, especially to Catherine, My Sock Swap parcel arrived this afternoon!! And it is fantastic!! I have been really spoilt. It is a cold and rainy day here; I have the wood fire going and it is cosy inside. What a perfect day to receive my parcel - I may even start knitting if children give me a chance! My big box contained: 2 packets of Lindt chocolate, a box of Ginger Thins biscuits, a big bag of pecans (I will be making pecan pie tomorrow - my favourite!), a box of green berry tea and a box of lemon and ginger tea, a cooking magazine called Taste of the South, some gorgeous goatsmilk hand lotion and of course, a lovely soft bluey/grey/red sock yarn - perfect colour. I think I'll make some long socks for me (yes, I do very occasionally knit for myself!) Thank you so much to Troyce for my lovely package, And when can we do another sock swap?!! Best wishes, Jayne

WAHOO!
Finally, now I can sleep! :) I'm so glad to hear that your package arrived and that you love it so much! That's what this is all about. And you must be the most patient Farmgirl ever.
Did you get the yarn that I sent to you last week? Just a little something-something to tide you over...now you're set for the Australian winter! (I have to admit, it makes me pause each time you make a reference to cuddling by a fire or holing up for the winter. I think "huh? she's waiting THAT LONG to start on socks?" No, Australia is just on the opposite weather schedule as Minnesota!)
Catherine :)

Catherine, You are so sweet!! Thanks so much for the sock yarn; it arrived today and I have been stroking it ever since! The girls at the wool shop here must think I'm mad - I'm always going in and stroking yarn (although they probably see heaps of crazy people like that). I just read an article in a magazine the lovely Jo in Alaska sent me about how you know it is autumn when you start going into yarn shops and not only stroking, but smelling, the wool! The sock yarn you sent me is just to die for! I don't know how you could part with it! And I adore the colours - another pair of long stocking-type socks for sure! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much. And I am sitting by the fire typing this (with washing hanging all over the fire guard!) It has been very cool lately and rainy weather forecast for the next four days - what better thing to do than knit?! Best wishes, Jayne

I think I must have jinxed our weather by saying that we're opposite of Australia. No, no we're not. It's not spring here today. It's snowing and the snow is sticking on April 11. Sigh. It's a good thing that I'm a Knitter, because YES! knitting when it's chilly outside is just about one of the most wonderful things ever! I just wish that we had tulips coming up instead of snow falling down...
Glad you liked the yarn! My friend bought that yarn for a baby sweater once and I couldn't get over the "geranium" colorway. Happy stocking knitting! I'm off to finish my Koigu sock and watch the snow fly...

You're so lucky - snow! I never see snow here, even in the depths of winter. That is why I want to move to the high country - i just LOVE snow! I'm still stroking my wool - it is so special; I almost don't want to knit it, it looks so gorgeous in the skeins! Keep warm! And I'm sure the tulips (and of course, the daffodils!) will be peeping up soon. Best wishes, Jayne |
