WOW!!! Those are impressive ladies! I'm intimidated just looking at your finished project. I've done a lot of sewing so I'm not sure why but something that small seems difficult to me. I love the way they look though. Too bad my thread lays sideways on my newfangled machine or I might be tempted to look into something like that LOL!

By the way I think the cruise sounds fabulous!!!!

Ok, just couldn't let it go... And I fiddled with the pattern, well actually did a little something different ..

I sewed 4 PC together and stitched onto a backing fabric.. a Fan design using the PC from the Dresden Plate pattern.
But rather sew the PC together and then onto the fabric, I sewed each PC onto the one next to it

Also when making the pieces, I stitched paper in between them, it made sewing easier ...

I am having issues trying to download/upload photos, bare with me.

I starched and ironed every piece before attaching.

Well phooey, now I am getting " error" message saying there is an issue with the site I am trying to access. Uugh!

Going to try one more time.

I am thinking about making 3 more of these and then sew together, the it would be a Dresden Plate instead of a fan .

Hey Grace -- Press the petals in half, right side together before sewing. Then clip that corner ever so slightly and finger press the little seam open (finger inside, thumb outside. Then your open seam should line up perfectly with the little crease and make perfect petals. After you've pushed out the point, starch and press again. I've got to get my feedsack project finished before I attempt any more of these little gems. My first attempt was really rough. Sew I'm watching your progress with great interest. My partner doesn't "do" vintage machines, otherwise I'd be making one of these from feedsack fabric.
