It looks like I am in good company. My favorite place was the Library. I think I read everything in that place, twice. I liked making up stories and being alone. I played with dolls until I was 13. I did not notice boys until I was 15. My husband was the only boy that I ever noticed. Married him after we were grown up a bit at 22. Lindy

You are so lucky that your library was open to students during lunches. We were required (until High School) to go to the cafeteria and then be outside. The only way we got out of this was if we had a special note from a teacher that said we had to be in the library. I would have loved to have spent our lunch time in the library. As it was I took Library Science all three years of Middle School. Once I checked my statistics to see how many books I had checked out- it was around 500 and that doesn’t count the books I checked out from the local library or the ones I read at home or the ones I read in the library and didn’t check out!

love love love to read!!! Libraries and bookstores are my favorite!! My grandmother tried very hard to keep enough books around for me as a child, and thanks to her I love to read, learn, and imagine!!

I think that books are such an important part of civilization. I fear for the newest generation that hate to read and would prefer to watch TV or play video games. I love to open a new book and sniff the pages, and then jump into a wonderful story!

Good to know I wasn't the only strange kid! I put my doll's clothes on my cats and stuffed animals, and often borrowed my brother's Star Wars figures to play with outside (we'd make an Ewok Village out of twigs and bushes in the backyard). I'm trying to figure out when people stopped raising their kids to play outside and use their imaginations... my children are emersed in computers, music and video games and aren't usually interested in going outside. They always want to be entertained. I let them indulge in some of that, but I try to get them to read and exercise their minds too. I still buy toys for my kids that I want to play with myself (my secret ~ shhh!). =o)

I must of been strange too! lol
I played with barbies till at least junior high. Although I was supposed to be like a adult in most my actions, it was what was expected of me. But, I really didn't get interested in boys till I was around 22 or so. (I was molested for 12 years of my growing up and that was enough for me!). I married at 25. To the oh I would say second guy I ever dated seriously-I dated one other man for about 3 months, then my husband for a little less then a year, BTW, he was a virgin, and I was kind of a virgin, I never had sex with any one but the man who molested me, but not with any one willingly.
I also still haven't learned to drive and I'm 31! I just had my first baby in Sept (she's 7 months old). And literally it was just 2 weeks ago that I started thinking maybe I will go and take driving school, so I can drive my daughter myself to places, instead of always relying on the train (subway, I live in NYC), or my husband to drive us around.
I know my dad, and others, including my grandparents always thought it was weird I didn't have any interest in learning to drive. But, until I had my daughter and like I said literally about 2 weeks ago was the first time I even really thought about wanting to. I think I might in a year or two sign up for some lessons. I told my husband I would like to be able to drive by the time our daughter is 5. My grandmother was always blaming my mom for me not driving thinking she was keeping me in her control from driving. But, really I think my mom would of appreciated it if I would have learned so I could do those kind of errands for her. It was really all me who never cared to. My gma even offered back then (I was around 18-20) to pay for me to go to driving school, but I never looked into it for her to pay (finding one, finding out how much it cost etc). Personally I have to say I don't regret it. I could walk most every where I needed, or funny enough my younger siblings would drive me where I couldn't walk....funny thing is my oldest younger brother is 8 years younger then me, then my next one, a sister is 12 years younger then me, and my next one a brother is 13 years younger then me, and they have all driven me some place, at some time. lol When I think of it in that perspective it seems funny for them to be teens and driving their 30 year old don't know hwo to drive sis around! lol But, really like I said, it's just not a interest to me, till 2 weeks ago.
But, like with boys, when I got interested, I got interested fast, found my man, and went with it. lol I think the same will probably happen with driving, when I'm ready I will learn, and be fine! lol haha
Until then, I don't really care what others think or say. They aren't me, they don't have to live my life. I am the one who either gets to reap the beinifits or pay the consquiences of my life, not any one else. So I like to live my life where I can't blame others for anything, and only myself. Yeah that kind of hurts for the cons, but it's great also taking the benifits full responsbility! And I beleive a lot less regretts, because I ain't wishing I hadn't listened to this person or that person. And most the time, your own self will tell you what's right or wrong, if you listen! |

I was always into horses and when all the other girls were boy-crazy, I was still out riding. I even missed my HS prom cuz it would have cut into riding time. I didn't even date till I was 19, wasn't interested and only went out with a guy cuz everyone else was going out. I actually got married the first time cuz I was the only one left, still single and thought maybe that's what I was supposed to do. I shoulda stuck with the horses. hehehe...
