Do you know how to dry out a starter for transport cross country? I really don't want to pitch it but I have nothing to feed it with.
Thanks!

Holly, spread it thinly on wax paper, parchment or saran wrap and let it dry. Where you live, it shouldn't take long, maybe a day or so. crumble it into whatever you are going to keep it in, tupperware or such. Leave the top off another day or two or more, to be sure it's really dry. Stir it around until you're sure it won't get moldy when you close it up. When you decide to rehydrate it, add warm water, just a little at a time until you have a paste and then feed it small amounts of warm water and flour, let it sit and do it again, until you have the amount you want again. I'm glad you've kept it going this time, and also glad you don't want to toss it again. Ronna |

Ronna,
Thanks! I figured you would know. I've tried -- it's still alive as best I can tell and I would like to try more when we get to KS.
Thanks again,
Blessings,
Holly
