Aren't the redbuds and forsythia beautiful this year? It just seems like they are so bright in color. I love driving through the country and seeing the redbuds and dogwoods blooming in the trees, they are so pretty together. I finally got up the nerve to take a good walk in the yard this morning, it's hard to believe how many weeds are already out there that need pulling. Kathy
I planted a cutting from my Mom's forsythia last year and I'm sooo happy to report that it took! I have a single yellow bud on my "stick" of a plant. But that's ok - as long as I know it survived the winter.
I also took a few Rose of Sharons and they're starting to bud as well.
The Goldfinches are starting to turn the same color as the forsythia now. I love this time of year.
I transplanted some Redbud trees from the wild into the tree line of my wooded back yard. So far 6 of the 7 I transplanted seem to be thriving. My dad said it wouldnt work due to the long tap root but I guess the extremely wet weather this spring has really helped get them started. I also want some Forsynthia but guess I will wait till next year for those.
