Anyone use organic baby products they can recommend. I am stunned by the large number of choices. What products did you find that really worked well.

We use Burt's Bees organic baby products with Jack, but only the shampoo bar, soap and occasionally the lotion. (And we'll be using LaMarguerite Farm's organic baby soap as soon as this bar runs out, already have it waiting in the bathroom!) Other than that, we've never used anything on his skin except Vaseline on his bum to prevent diaper rash (which is strange, I know, since it's a petroleum product but it's gentle and it works...the zinc oxide in diaper ointments is not an okay ingredient for us...). I read an article in Mothering magazine from spring 06 that talked about the hidden ingredients in baby products that are not good for them. We're low-product-using people around here anyway, so we decided to skip the oils, lotions, balms and diaper ointments for Jack in favor of simplicity. So far, so good!

p.s. Despite my distate for zinc oxide, we have used Burt's Bees diaper ointment on the few rare occasions where the rash was pretty irritated. It does work beautifully and smells like lavender. Just not a fan of the ingredients in the long-term!

Earth Best Organics makes a baby product line which is lovely and smells like lavender. For all my kids I use Dr.Bronners Baby pure Castile Soap. It's made with organic oils and it's fair trade. I love the scent of Burt's Bees and I use all their products. They smell so yummy! I use the castile soap, Burt's bees apricot oil,and Burt's Bees diaper cream if they need it. After three I found the more you use the more they need.

| I used Weleda's calendula cream (made specifically for babies) for any kind of diaper rash, or other skin thing, with great results. (Although I have to mention that neither of my kids had any real issue with diaper rash, since I used cloth diapers.) I also used a few of Burt's Bees things once in a while, as well as the California Baby line occasionally. No matter what brand I used, I always read the ingredients, & chose what was the most natural, least chemical/toxic. In general, I found that my kids didn't really need much @ all - just a very gentle, mild soap. |

Yeah Melanie, we're the same way on diaper rash. The cloth diapers do help a lot to prevent it and we've only had a few occurrences for young Jackson! (Including one right now...poor guy!)

I'm a fan of Burt's Bees. I do find the diaper rash cream works well, but mostly use pure lanolin, the same lanolin they sell for breastfeeding moms. It's sticky, and doesn't react with his skin, just is a barrier.
I don't use cloth because I work, and our daycare doesn't do cloth. However, I've found that unsented diapers from 7th generation, or Tushies, DRASTICALLY reduce my little one's rashes.
