I am posting this in the Fabric Swap Room too. And, please forward it on to anyone you think might be interested. In going through my stash I have uncovered a tote box full of delightfully retro flowered feedsacks. I thought they might be a good basis for some kind of quilting, crafting or fabric swap in the new year. I have been participating in many swaps since joining the MJF Connection earlier this year. But I really don't know the rules of the road when it comes to hosting one. I would be happy to try. But I need to know if there would be any interest in a feedsack swap or challenge of some kind. I'm looking forward to your input as we are approaching the end of the Holiday Season and have cabin fever to look forward to . . . Thanks in advance for your ideas. Farmgirl hugs, jean

Oh My STars! if it were not for this COVID thing... I would dash down to your LaCasa... Right Now! Luv feed sacks.. I have used them for various projects,, from re-upholstering a foot stool, to using for the backside of deco pillows and of course.. aprons! Darn,, wish I could pop over to your sewing room! I am down to 3 sacks,, and they are well worn that I can barely read the print .. but I do have a sugar sack,, that I am thinking about trimming with sequins around the word "Idaho' on it..
Lucky you.... oh the projects we could do! not to mention, a gab fest and tea...

I don't know how many people have feed sacks. I wouldn't mind having some. I have vintage linens that I would swap.

What I forgot to put in the first post is that I'm thinking to send one of the feedsacks to every person that signs up for the activity. So everyone starts with a feedsack from me and goes from there. jean

Well, at this point, I'm just trying to determine if there is any interest. If I do some kind of rotation quilt (see the private email I sent to you), I'll probably post it here. If it turns out to actually be some kind of swap, I'll do it on the swap page. For now I'm just gathering information and exploring the possibilities. All suggestions welcome and taken under advisement.

Oh,, I like the idea of a Feed Sack project swap... If I weren't heading South in a couple weeks,, I'd dig through my stash for that Idaho-Sugar sack to play with... I will have to stick a 'post-it' not on my stash to remind me, when I get back,, to hunt for it... lol!

Count me in, too, Jean. If we each had a sack to start with then we could add to it to make something for our swap partner. That would be posted in the Swap section. I love flour sacks. I think I have one in my stash - I've seen it since we moved, but can't tell you where right now. LOL! It is a yellow with orange and green design I think.

This is a cool thread! I have one feedback print from some flour I purchased at the Wauneta Roller mills company in Wauneta, Nebraska. They have an online store and still pack plastic bags of their products in old feedback prints. I saved my flour one and stuffed it with paper and put it on my Buttery shelf beside my antique stove. This is the coolest place to order from and it has been in business since 1925. Check out their website at www.waunetarollermills.com It has a great history and they have all sorts of products to purchase. I have purchased some for gifting to family and friends like pancake mixes etc. I really love supporting American iconic businesses that have been around for decades and longer. There is also a flour mill in Colorado that CeeJay gave us the address to where you can purchase repro feedsack bags in 4 different prints. Over the years I have turned them into porch pillows for fun.
