Hello everyone! I am a new-to-the-country girl! After eight years of hoping and praying, my husband and I found our place outside the city. It's just two acres but surrounded by farmers fields and lots of room for our four children and dog to run! We're ordering chickens and ducks, tapping the maples and looking forward to our first spring in the country. Now if only this darn snow would disappear! Hannah www.cultivatinghome.blogspot.com |

Welcome to you from another New Yorker. We got 45 inches here during the Valentine's Day storm. What fun huh! You'll love it here. Whenever I come up with a question I come right here. They are very helpful (and friendly to boot!) Have you ever been around chickens? I've never touched one but we are getting our first bunch this spring. Let's share notes!

Welcome Hannah! I guess you have snow as we do too......can't wait for spring. Be prepared for the mud. I have come to realize that mud is one of those things that goes hand in hand with country life. Best of luck with the chickens and ducks. We, too began with these guys and are branching out into guinea hens and goats.....Ducks are the best!

I heard that the weather was beastly up your way, Hannah - but I'm SO happy for you that you have your farmstead. It sounds wonderful! Welcome to the 'Connection - I know you'll love it here.

Wow, thanks for all the farm welcomes! You've made my day. In reply to Rosenwalt, you must live pretty close to us. We're in Oneida County. I'm ordering chicks and ducks today from McMurray's and have to figure out what to do for a coop. Supposed to hit 40 tomorrow so this snow should begin to leave... Hannah |

Hi Livelife, do you mean the sweater on the blog? Just an idea I had to remake one for one of our daughters. I home educate our children and run the house and that keeps me plenty busy fr now. Our children are ages 6,4,2, and 10 months. I'm "retired" from nursing and have also had a photography business in the past. Sewing is just a hobby. It's an easy and great one to pick up! |
