Ladies go back and read Darlenes second post, July 19th. I think she plans to do pumpkins and Christmas things later on. This round I may send farm critters. I call them felties.

Marilyn,
I was referring to Darlene's post of the 21st where she said if there was interest, she would continue this swap. I was letting her know I would be interested in swaps for fall and for Christmas.

Oh, I'm sorry I misunderstood. Sorry. In fact when I went back and looked, I had not seen that July 21st post! I'm glad you pointed that out. Thanke.

I am looking for a dough bowl for my countertop. I am already thinking fall and winter and Christmas. Cooler weather would be nice.

I found one of my dough bowls at the thrift store some time back.

Today we have some clouds...to go with the humidity. I'm praying and asking God for rain.
I am so enjoying the. zinnias. And the sunflowers. Never before have I been able to grow these big tall robust sunny colored flowers. There are some reddish brown ones too.

You know, I do not remember my grandma having a dough bowl. What I do remember was she pulled out her dough board( it fit into a slot above one of the drawers. It pulled out, but not completely out. Then she sifted a huge pile of flour on to the dough board. There was salt and baking powder mixed into the flour before she put it on the dough board. Then she made a well in the flour and poured cows milk and lard in there. When she finished mixing it all together her hands were white and a mess...but those biscuits were delicious.

She made her dumplings much the same way...but used some of the chicken broth as the liquid. She added some lard, and rolled them out. Then her little paring knife cut the strips. They were tender and fluffy in the broth When we ate them. After years and years of failures...i just use canned biscuits.

My mother had a dough board too. It was an old slide out but I'm not sure where it came from. Lol

I have a dough board also. It slides out of my Hoosier. I never use it. There's a porcelain top that pulls out also to increase it's size. It doesn't come out it is stationary. It has a bread box, spice rack, sugar and flour bin. Several draws and shelves and is oak. It's beautiful.

Denise, I'm happy to do the swaps. I try to think of new things to keep us connected!Busy too! LoL!

My husband has a metal Hoosier, it has a aluminum? covered top that pulls out to make the surface larger. Inside the top section is a flower bin it rolling pin holder hooks for measuring cups and such and I believe a sugar thing. One of the drawers is a bread box. It does have two drawers and a cabinet underneath. When he got it we had never seen a metal one before. It does not have a breadboard

The biggest drawer on the bottom of mine is a bread box. It has a metal lid that closes on top. I also have a door with a huge flour bin and a glass sugar jar that hangs on ohe side of the bottom shelf. That shelf has a door that pulls down.

My Hoosier is oak. It has three doors on top. One door opens to reveal the flour bin with the sifter at the bottom. It also has the porcelain top that pulls out...i never knew it was a dough board.
The bottom has a door on the left. Three metal bottom drawers on the right.
Now when Bay was about 18 months old she found the door on the bottom. I was busy cooking supper and when I got it ready and called everyone to eat( probably three minutes had passed)...no Bay could be seen. I did not tell. But her parents were getting worried. So I went over to the Hoosier...tapped on the door...slowly it opened and a smiling baby girl peeped out. She had pulled a good one on her parents.
Later this little baby girl sat the bottom out of my Hoosier. I could not get over how thin the bottom was. Well I fixed it so I could store pots in the bottom. Now it lives in the bedroom. But perhaps it really needs to come back to the kitchen.

My dough board is wooden and pulls out from below the porcelain top. The top does pull out for more space but I can't use the dough board when the top is out.

Love to hear the stories. That's how we ge to know each other better!
Mine has 3 doors at top. Th left side has the flour sifter that can be filled. Stationary shelves in the other doors. Below is an accordion door that exposes
the bottom of the flour bin, a turn table spice rack in the center and another bin beside it. Storage space beneath. Then the porcelain top. Beneath the top
are 2 drawers. Beneath the 2 drawers a large door with the dough board that comes out and a door rack. Plenty of storage space. Next to the door are 3
drawers, 1 being the bread box. It is in my kitchen and is used daily. It's actually to pretty and should be in my Dining room all gussied up! I do have old tins and tea pots on top! They sure don't make them like this anymore!
