I love your quilts Vanessa. The second one is what I imagine my Farmgirl Sister quilt will look like when I use the fabrics from our swaps.

Love your quilt, Vanessa.

Has anyone made the Beth Dutton quilt from Yellowstone? It is so simple, really, 9-patches of red and black and grey connecting squares all on point. I want to make it, but need to start collecting FQs of reds and blacks and find a grey for the connecting squares.

I watched Yellowstone but didn't register how pretty this quilt is. What a great idea to make one like it with the colors. I think red and black together make a great color combo. If anyone makes one, please post it so we all can see!!

The Beth Dutton quilt is really an easy 9-patch pattern. I am going to start a swap thread to see how many people might be interested in making the Beth Dutton quilt. If there are enough, I will host a swap for red and black strips of fabric. That way we would have more combinations for our own version of then quilt.

Finally assembled the scrappy Strip Quilt and hung it up to admire it.
I may add a border, but it's pretty big already.
My niece and her family are visiting and I provided the kids with crafting materials. Their enthusiasm gave me the spark to knuckle down and sew it together.

I haven't been in my sewing room much lately due to work around the property and bathroom reno work...
I finally went through my closet and purged several large boxes of fabrics.. some I sent to our 'Sisters on the Fly' quilters group, they make quilts for ladies undergoing cancer treatment as well as sell some quilts to donate money to "Casting for Recovery" a fly Fishing camp for ladies who are dealing with cancer.

I also donated a full box of flannel fabrics to a group at the Lutheran church to make small blanket quilts for children at the Battered Womens Shelter.
I won't have made any, but I know that someone will and the quilts will all go to a good cause.. that made it easier for me to part with the fabrics.

I know it sounds counterintuitive but I feel that if I could sew on quilts all day, I wouldn't enjoy it as much. I whine about having to do other tasks but it makes my sewing time more precious and productive. And it should be fun and not work.

I’ve been seriously thinking of purging my stash cupboard. I’ve had it for years and it’s just time. When I donate things, I like to think that they will get to the person who will do something useful with them. Even if it wasn’t myself that did the sewing, quilting, etc. I had a part in helping them to make it happen. Those ladies will be so thankful, Grace!!!

Just a quick little repurpose project.. from a stained table cloth to a cute BBQ apron, with yo-yo decorations.

My assistant did her job to keep me from getting distracted, and not let the apron become another UFO.. lol!

Great projects all around!! It’s so important to have an assistant to continue to guide you! Lol

Good for you, Debbie! It’s so freeing when you can let something go. For me, it tends to inspire me to get crafting because I don’t have the guilt of “that project or fabric” laying around. :)

It’s funny when you start cleaning out…sometimes you’ll discover something and it will seem like an old friend and other times you just shake your head and ask yourself, what was I thinking????

Yes, Debbie - all scraps and I could make many more.

For the non-quilters here, Courthouse steps is a fun and easy Pattern - just one version of the Log Cabin block - with colorful strips going one direction and light neutrals the other around a 2” red square. I did not use a foundation. There are many tutorials on YouTube - check it out. Note: this is called crooked courthouse steps because the strips are not all the same width as is shown in many tutorials.

And it really didn’t make a dent in my scraps. LOL! I like a quilt to go down the sides of the bed a ways and this is made with 144 8” finished blocks so it hangs 16” on each side of my queen size bed.

In fact, I have a body pillow that I am going to make a cover for; the front will be the same blocks to go at the head of the bed.
