I gave my eyes a break from cross stitch to cut and tie this blanket for a family friends kid. I still need to make one for his sister. I can't wait to give it to him for Christmas!

Really nice Krista, What little boy doesn’t love dump trucks, He is going to love it!

I have been making some simple Christmas presents - Christmas Shilly Shallies. Do any of you remember the Shilly Shally swaps we had on MJF a number of years ago?

The meaning of Shilly-Shally is to be indecisive and vacilitating. This is kind of like Willy Nilly or Dilly Dally.
However, in Mary Jane's Idea Book on page 318 she talked about her idea of a shilly shally. Here's a picture from the book:

I hope you can expand to read it on your phone or computer.

I am making the shilly shallies 40-42" square, double-turn the edges to hem, and use as a tablecloth for a small table.

I also made one for my baby. When we were picking the fabrics out at the store he found a cow print that he just loved. He carried the whole roll around with him lol. So I couldn't resist and had to make him one. He is using it for nap time right now. I will have to get a picture soon.

Linda, those sound neat! I can't wait to see how they turn out!

I talked my quilt club into holding a quilt exhibit during our town's Christmas parade activities. Luckily I took a few pictures and a video. It is in the courtroom where our fiscal court meets every week. We got lots of visitors and inquiries about making quilts and joining the club

Before Dad passed back in 2018 I was helping him clean out drawers and closets and came across quilt blocks my great grandmother had made sometime back in the 1920s. They were quite brown with age so I gave them a six hour soak in Oxyclean, hoping for the best and keeping my fingers crossed I wasn't damaging them. Soaking was pretty successful. I had the blocks on my guild's UFO list and they were the number drawn this month. This is what I made with them:

Judith how wonderful that you were able to save your great-grandmother’s blocks! What a treasure your quilt is. I have blocks and pieces of a quilt my mother started before she passed in 2008. That will be my project for next year. I am amazed at you ladies that can sew up a quilt every month.

Wanda, I'm doing everything by machine now that both hands are in braces so making quilts goes much faster than doing them by hand. I really miss all the hand sewing I used to do.

Those blocks are so nice, Judith. I hadn't seen butterfly blocks like those with the flowers. How nice that you were able to save them.

Did I miss something? Why are both your hands in braces? Carpal Tunnel? I'm so sorry you are hurting and hope your hands feel better soon. Crafters use their hands all the time and I know how hard it is when they are not working properly.
