I just wondered how many of you "farmgirls" wear cosmetics everyday? I have to admit that I have never been a cosmetic type of woman (I have really nice skin) but not sure if it takes too much time to put on, or sweat it off, or just neglect to put it on because no one will see me that day. I have tried expensive department store cosmetics and drugstore cosmetics. What do you use and how often?? Are there days you just don't wake up and slap that Lancome on?? Mollie

I only wear washable waterproof mascara and eyeliner pencil (lightly) every day. And moisturizer if I think of it. I never wear anything else. need to throw out my old lipstick..they are honestly at least 10 years old and I they only come out for halloween and like that. Not much of a makeup gal. Sometimes in summer I paint my toenails, but havn't yet this year. Never the fingernails. I mess them up too quickly and keep them short for goat milking anyhow..

I don't wear makeup everyday, although I don't have anything against it...I just usually don't think about it.

I usually don't put it on unless I am going out on a date with my boyfriend.

One thing to keep in mind, ladies, is sunscreen. Alot of moisturizers have sunscreen in them and they keep your face looking beautiful. Moisturized skin is less likely to wrinkle and sun protected skin is less likely to get age spots or cancer.

I am an inactive Mary Kay lady, but when I first got into the buisness I learned more than I wanted to about the effects of sun on the skin (Most Mary Kay facial moisturizers and even some foundations and lipsticks have sunscreen in them). I don't know too much about the efficacy of the drugstore/grocery store varieties though.

Ciao

No cosmetics for me. I love the clean, wholesome real look I have when I don't mess with what I was given. I do use sunscreen almost every day, but even that is a struggle as I hate the way it feels on my skin. Any favorite brands out there I should try? Recently I have found that I save time every day by not having to put it on, shop for it, take it off, change and freshen it, etc. I think my time is more valuable doing what I love to do. (By the way I can appreciate how cosmetics make some women feel better about themselves, and I'm all for it! Each has to do what is best for them and their family.)

For me it's a little concealer under my eyes for a couple of blood vessels that are close to the surface and some mascara (ECCO BELLA from the health food store).
Then there's work functions where I will put on a little blush, lipstick and earrings when neccessary.

Joy, I use the Oil of Olay face lotions with built in sunscreen. They are light, non greasy and unscented. They seem to work for me and I am blonde and fair. I use them year round. I also use lip balm with sunscreen in it too. I go au natural on my face except for the sunscreen/lotion, lip balm and a little mascara if I am going out. I try to wear a protective hat in the summer too.

I use Oil of Olay also as a wash and as a lotion with a sun screen. some mascara at work, and at church a little color on my eyes. But when I am at home in my comfies and working in my yard with my critters or sewing, It all comes off:)

I am a Mary Kay consultant and think VERY highly of their products. I don't always glitz myself up, however everyday I wear this stuff called Eyesicles which is a cream-to-powder eyeshadow that I smear on my eyelid and of course mascara (my eyes look lost with blonde eyelashes). It gives me a nice glint and is all waterproof. Other than that Acne Tratment gel for the zits and mosturizer when needed. It's a 5 minute or less way to look nice in the morning!

Molly

P.S. You can always look at Mary Kay online at marykay.com and you may want to go through a consultant to order.

No makeup here. Just mascara and lip gloss for "special" ocassions. Although you'll often find me with fingernail and toenail polish.

I have *always* loved makeup and skin care -- and get sucked in by those marketing ploys every time!

I used Aveda almost exclusively when I was still working at the salon, but doubt I'll be paying full price for it now. I really like Burt's Bees skin care products. The orange face cleanser smells wonderful! And I found a rosewater toner I like. I read in some book on skin care products that BBs doesn't actually have any training to do skin care products. But, looking at the ingredients, at least I *recognize* most of them! Oil of Olay reminds me of what my soon-to-be-ex-husband used in college, so I won't be using that again in this lifetime. Has anyone ever used the DHC (is that it?) line? It's available by mail order and its main ingredient is olive oil. I have liked the samples I tried, but when I contacted customer service for some input on exactly which products would be best for my skin, I didn't get much help. So I've never done anything more with it.

P.S. I wear a little Aveda tinted moisturizer 4 or so days a week, a little taupe eyeshadow if my eyes look red, concealer to cover up genetic dark circles (and not enough water!), and sometimes lipstick and mascara. That's on days I have to go to the office or look "professional."

Otherwise, I slap on some moisturizer and go. I should take more care, though. Definitely some aging and skin damage. But I'm proud to have made it to nearly 46, so what the heck!

I used to be a Mary Kay consultant many years ago, and now that I'm not I can't afford all the products . Now, I use Vaseline lotion for my face, Mary Kay creme-to-powder foundation (love the stuff, it goes on so light!), Mary Kay eyeliner and lipstick, and drugstore everything else. I've been wearing less makeup lately, but always have to wear eye makeup no matter what (my eyes need the enhancement, they are very small!) I've been blessed with really nice skin and I do stay out of the sun as much as possible.

I am thinking of starting my Mary Kay stuff up again, and if I do- if any of you ladies wanted something, I would be glad to sell for wholesale prices (i know... I wouldn't make any money) as long as you paid for shipping. I love the Mary Kay brand but I too have a hard time affording it if I am not an "active" consultant.

I rarely wear makeup, but will occasionaly wear some concealer under the eyes and do some lip gloss. If the fancy strikes me, I'll go all out, but really try to stick with that "natural" look. The only face care I've really been on a habit with lately is the Kiss My Face Obsessivly Organics line...the moisturizer's smell is heavenly!

Thanks, I haven't tried Oil of Olay, but if they include sunscreen and don't leave my face feeling gunky (highly scientific word there) I try it!
Have a great day!

Hello to all,

I am a faithful Mary Kay customer and I will have to say that it has worked well for me for the 20+ years that I have used the products. I don't always put on makeup (even to go into the office - I am who I am and work just the same), but I always do the skin care process. AS MK has reformulated their products they are making them much easier and quicker to use. It takes me less than 5 minutes to cleanse and moisturize. I also use some additional moisturizers for under and around my eyes, but that's it. When I do put make up on, I totally agree with Molly about the creme to powder foundation, it's so light you won't know you have it on. .

I justify the expense as being the only thing I truly "splurge" on just for myself. The quality of the product though, makes it very affordable over the long run because it lasts a long time. My DH loves the look, I love the feel of healthy smooth skin and no one can ever guess my age!

So basically in my opinion and for myself, make up is an option, skin care is a must.

Blessings on your day.

Lynda

Hi there,
I wear very little makeup during the week. I use MaryKay or Oil of Olay right now. I cleanse and moisturize everyday. If I do wear makeup, I wear mascara, eyeliner and under eye concealer, a little powder foundation and maybe lipgloss. Takes me all of five minutes. On special ocassions I clean up pretty nice.;-)
