Hello Everyone! I don't live on a farm but raised on a large wheat farm in rural Kansas and where I spent most of my life. I am now 58 and a retired biology teacher living in Alabama. Our 4 children are grown and starting their own households after college so my husband and I sold our large home (emptynesters) and trying to decide "what" to do for living arrangements. For weeks we are one minute discussing a garden home, then a farm, then who knows. So, whatever we decide, I will enjoy sharing stories and skills about farm life. Being raised on a wheat farm, we didn't have lots of farm animals so have no knowledge about that, we had LOTS of chickens, fancy geese, dogs and cats. I like to sew, can, freeze, and cook. I was an only child and my mother didn't instruct me on farm life (I don't think she enjoyed it) so a lot of it is self taught or spending time with relatives. I have a passion about genealogy and researched my family and became a DAR (Daughter of the American Revolution) and write articles about different family ancestors I discovered for historical magazines. I am really excited about meeting all of you. Mollie

Hi Mollie! From another Molly.... I'm in Wisconsin and don't live on a farm either (yet!) but I am dreaming and scheming anyway! I enjoy genealogy as well, how far have you gotten back on your family tree? Looking forward to getting to know you!

Take care,

Cead Mile Failte,
Molly

Hi Mollie and welcome.
I'm fairly new myself here, talk about feeling right at home. What took you to Alabama? You are so blessed to be so young and able to retire from teaching. I am very new at hunting for ancestors, but I am determined to give my hubby a piece of his past for Christmas. Hope this week finds you happy and healthy! Enjoy all the friends you'll meet here.

To live without farm life is merely existing, to live with farm life is living life to it very last experience.

Hi Molly!

My name is Alee and I joined today also!

Genealogy is a great pass-time and can become almost a full time job!

The great thing about it is that you are helping to re-establish your families legacy and your children and such will be able to see a new side of their family all because of your hobby!

Good luck with your research! It will be great getting to know you!

Welcome

Ciao

Alee

Welcome Molly! You sound like one of the farmgirls already! Please tell us more about your genealogy pursuits, and what it was like growing up on a wheat farm.
